My girlfriend and I split up. I feel absolutely crushed and don't know what to do. I haven't eaten for 3/4 days now, when can I expect my appetite to return to normal? Anyone experienced anything similar, what did you do?

I would suggest you distract yourself with something. Try to cut anything that reminds you of her out of your life too. Also, this may not be the best advice, but you'll have to give it time. You'll get better eventually

Ride the emotions my man, I didnt eat for 5 days and I am currently on 1 meal a day. Just try and eat where you can. You will be okay I promise.

Its tough. Ive felt crushed. Alone. Upset. Angry. It has destroyed my appetite even for my most favourite foods. Just let it happen and overtime you will get an appetite. Try not to eat alone.

Its fine to feel how you are. Its normal. If you need a chat about any of it. Im happy to share my experiences.

It comes back eventually, I promise! I'm better than I was right after my break up but a month on now and I'm still not totally right but on the mend

I don't recommend talking to that Jake guy, he loves *****ing about everything to anyone.

Make the choice to cut her out of your life completely - this really helped me, felt like I was in control of my own emotions. After this, it's just waiting. It can feel awful for weeks, but you'll get over it in time

Also, try to go out and make the effort to socialise with new people

I speak with experience, try to avoid falling deeper into this depression. Its a very hard journey back if you go too deep. You've got some got good advice here. Keep yourself busy, exercise, force yourself to eat (eat something you love no matter how unhealthy).

Idk the history between you 2, but this seems a bit harsh? It's a very emotional time and affects some people a lot worse than others

You're right. You don't know the history. Therefore you are in no place to comment.

Okay - but is this really the place to discuss it? Turning the person's problem into a petty squabble between you 2

It would have been left where it was had you not got involved.

Ohhh if it isn't the Comment Queen that grants us the grand right to when we can comment.

The bloody person asked a question, anyone on this site has a place to comment unless... in the unlikely event that they break the rules!

Now please Comment Queen, share your wonderful wisdom on when I can or cannot reply to questions!

Yea, generally keep yourself occupied. Sitting on the computer all day won't help (IMO) as your mind tends to wander off and start thinking of things.

    I've experienced it.
    keep your blood sugar up.
    force your self to eat.
go for easy stuff like porridge.
see your food like medicine. its a necessity not a luxury.
drink some fizzy drinks like 7up to stop your self from getting faint.
