moving from an E in AS to an A/B in A Level chemistry

is this possible? im asking because im so dissapointed with my as grade chemistry. i got an E due to my lack of motivation/teachers and many other aspects.

However this year i am detemined to get atleast an A/B for A level chemistry. my plan is to retake unit 1 and 2 in jan and hopefully this will boost the E to an A/B. can anyone give me some advice on how this could be done? has anyone done this? Any advice on how to do revision for chemistry? my examboard is Edexcel. any advice is well apreciated.

It is possible, but you'll need to put a lot of hard work in and do well in your resits and your A2 exams:smile: .

:ditto: Often getting bad AS results act as a wake up call and students realise they've become complacent after doing well at GCSE, so they work a lot harder in Year 13 and do much better.

trust me it can be done. even though i did business studies i got 120 ums in my AS and that is a boderline E. I resat ONE module and got 120/120. This gave me a B for AS. it can be done u just hav to be really motivated and really go for it in your resits.

thing is i gotta retake like 8 exams , i got UUE , all my exams i took was in June , so i hope i can redo all exams in Jan and get better marks , does any body know or heard of anyone getting my results in AS and doing better after resits?
If u got a "high" E.....E starts at 120/300, right up to 149. If u get 240+ in the A2 units, U end up with between 360 and 449, which means u r likely to end up with a B or a C. So, give it a go...get down on it and put everything up ur sleeve for A2.....You may want to re-sit some of ur AS units as well....
thrope what subjects did u get the grades in...i did real bad in my as n hoping to retake lots of units i suppose u gotta have faith in ya self!!!

It is always possible, but probably not easy. In fact, isn't there a saying that ' nothing worthwhile is easy and nothing easy is worthwhile'. It will take a lot of motivation and hard work, but the important thing is to try to be honest with yourself about where you went wrong, so that you can build on these weaknesses to improve. Remember you'll also be doing your A2 at the same time, so you might consider dropping a subject to give yourself more time. Don't give up hope. If resits didn't work then people wouldn't do them.

I'd ask for your papers or photocopies to be sent back to you so that you can see where you lost most marks and rectify your mistakes. I never realised how much of a pain typing on psp would be.

edit: to the guy above. It depends entirely on yMur college on whether or not you can carry on to A2

Good luck.

It shows you don't really have a good grasp of topics in the AS course, and A2 builds upon AS topics. It will be hard for you, but worth a try.
hmm did u do well in some of the unit paper coz if u did that u do have chance for doing a2!

i'm sure its possible, you'll just have to work exra hard and quit your social life.
it is acheivable, you're lucky its only a problem in one subject so yeah, why not.
just try really hard because you have that, and unis to worry about aswell as your A2 stuff, and A2 is so much harder than AS.

and as for the teachers, feck em i say. one thing that motivates me is proving them wrong, and my god does it feel good.
i've always been targeted under, and yet my teachers still think i can't get those grades, obv i can because i've done it and proved it to them so yeah.. go for it.

just don't distract yourself - you have one year, make it or break it.
