So I met a guy last week who gave me letter from a guy confessing his feelings. We texted each other for a bit and he took me to a movie on Friday. I was grounded on Friday and had my phone taken away. He then sent me another letter via a friend, talking about how he didn't want to lose 'what we had'. I was a little confused by this, we barely know each other and we aren't in a proper relationship. I then got my phone back and texted him again. He texts very frequently, and when talking about future events, for example an exchange I am going on, wants to know how he will contact me and talk to me.

He is nice, but he definitely likes me way more than I like him, and he is a bit too clingy. How do I let him know that he needs to give me a bit of space, without hurting his feelings as he clearly feels our relationship is more substantial than it is?

You need to get away from him asap, clingy people are usually dependent on others for happiness, have little experience in relationships and don't have any other hobbies/life of their own, if you continue staying in contact with him, be prepared for torment because it only gets worse, even if you're not in a relationship with the person, they act as if you are, become jealous etc. In the extreme case, he may end up becoming controlling if you give him the time of day. In any case, it's not worth the risk tbh. I'm a guy btw and speaking from my experience with clingy females and what I've observed.
