    Hi,

I'm a journalist working on a story about alternatives to high rent, and was wandering if anyone out there in TSR had camped out long-term in someone's garden instead of of renting?

I've got one friend who had a huge gazebo tent in a garden with a double bed in it and lived there almost a year. It was fine until it leaked in the rain and some stray cats moved in! Anyone else got a similar story? If so, how did you find it?

If not, do you have a similarly unusual solution to the accommodation problem? Sharing one room with someone else American style, living in a garage, loft or cellar? Sleeping out of a car?

    Let me know!

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Hi
I didnt whilst at uni however did for a long part of my gap year. Instead of spending thousands on hostels/hotels I pitched a tent literally anywhere I could find near to where I was visiting. Beaches, parks, service stations.

It's amazing the sort of things you take for granted whilst in a house compared to living out of a tent. Finding clean drinking water each day and preparing meals were all a struggle.

^^^ Thats actually taken from the side of a carpark near Melbourne where I lived for a few weeks.
