I went ahead and read extracts of the parts where they had sex. For some reason I get extremely annoyed that so many people consider this "hardcore" BDSM. Why is a book which seems so tame it borders on just outright vanilla get so much bloody attention? And now there's a movie coming out.:facepalm2:. I weep for anyone who is so sexually repressed that they consider this even remotely "out there".

I worded my title poorly, I meant that it pisses me off to irrational levels.

Compared to some of the things that have been burned onto my retinas it is really not hardcore. I think controversialness means more people know of it so more people buy it so it goes up. Rinse and repeat.

No sane person would care, even if the book itself doesn't appeal to them

I mean it's just annoying how smug some of the girls who like it are, "I'm so edgy and unique for liking this HARDCORE BDSM, you wouldn't understand"... when really they're as bland as beige wallpaper.

I totally agree with you. Not only is the writing just absolutely horrendous, it's just borderline rapey and not at all BDSM...

I have not read the entire book, couldn't subject myself to it.

And if you can endure it, the film is coming out in February...

Still don't care, if they are happy why is this a problem?

It's badly written and repetitive. I cringed at the inner goddess bits haha. I remember a lot of my friends saying they wanted their own Christian grey

Why would she even talk about that when (from what I've read) she's always the submissive one?

I don't know why everyone's jumping on the hate bandwagon. It's not that bad at all.
