Ahhhh! Need to lose the tummy

Dangnit! This summer has really been annoying because although I've been out more often than usual ive been eating a bucket load of yummy tasty, but annoyingly unhealhy stuff. I think my big tummy is really getting too much, and I need to cut back a bit, build up soem muscle.

My GF doesn't mind so much, and she's all nice about it but I really want to shape up and look good for her.

What ways do you reckon would quickly get rid of the tummy and my increasingly annoying almost-man-like-boobs! LOL I have some light hand weights, and that's it - lol. Used to bike alot but my tire busted, d'oh!

Thanks!
Anon.
Situps, and get your GF to make you laugh - laughing works the stomach muscles

HTH, am trying to do the same thing too for when our summer gets here

Feel free to PM if you want a complete list of sit up types I'm trying out atm

repair your bike
a puncture??? buy a new inner tube then onbly like 3 quid-sorted

run, swim, basically do exercise and eat healthily-it isn't rocket science!!!!
Doing hand weights won't help you get rid of your boobs. Your bike might. And you can do sit ups til you're blue in the face, it won't help. Run, swim, cycle and eat less.

eat a varied healthy diet and do excercise like running, swimming, walking to places if you can instead of catching the bus or taking the car. its not impossible just keep at it i used to be 14 stone and i wasnt very tall but i just kept losing weight as my goal and i lost 4 stone now im back to 11 stone a good weight for me now as im 5,11 hoping to keep it here.
building muscle by sit ups wont help you lose your stomach all it will do is build up well muscle,

you need to do cardio, running cycling, swimming, working the body without the muscle building part of it, and eat healthily. Also you lose wieght in different places first (stomachs are hard to shift) so you basically just need to keep doing it

i agree!

Even if he litraly means the tire burst, you can get a new one. The bike tires i use are £50-£60 a pair and those are very good ones, but you can get them for a lot cheaper if you dont have much money.

Sit up and stuff won't realy help until you have lsot those love handles. NOt really worth having a six-pack if there is a layer of fat covering so no-one can see it. (unless of course you have back problems or somehting)

If you want to get into shape, why not make sure you adjust your diet and excercise habbits simultaneously? You know, rather than just trying to lose some weight quickly and then end up gaining it again during the winter or whatever, why not try to sort it all out by getting into a habbit of eating healthier and picking up a sensible excercise pattern. Make sure you eat a significant amount of veg with every meal (like a quarter to a third of the meal by weight ) , pick up some sport(s) you enjoy. Heck, if you do it right you might just end up making some good friends in the process.

What effect would doing, say, 15 minutes on a rowing machine every day have? I'm planning to do some cardio work once i'm back at school (in school gym) to shed off some pounds i've put on over summer, and then once the weight's down, try and muscle build.

What would you all say is the best way to go about doing this, in this order

one word , cardio. You need something which will increase the rate of ur heartbeat for a prolonged time period.
Muscles contain limited stores of substances for quick release energy, after these have been exhausted, the body switches to other storage systems, ie Fat. During exercise, for example running/biking, you will feel the difference between ur body using the 2 different methods. Initially it is hard to get going whilst running, first 3-4minutes it's quite taxing, but slowly you level off into a pace which is suitable for you and a pace which you can handle. This is what you should be aiming for.
10-15minute jog every day does wonders, (10mins for an average person is about 2km approx 1.4 miles)
I thought i'd kinda hijack this thread instead of starting another. I can now drive and really dont wanna become lazy and dependent on my car, so now im really taking measures to avoid the risk of becoming fat etc.

^^I couldnt agree more with the cardio exercise. Sound advice for anyone  . I now go on 1/2 hour jogs every day, with a view to sweating loads and getting my heart rate going, so when the going does get tough I know its doing good.

I also do sit ups and press ups every day just to round it off, although im a much bigger believer in cardio exercise.
