Back Pain: Help

This may be one of those "seek immediate medical advice" things, so if it is, please just say so. However it may just be me being naive and stupid.
Remember: If you do say "seek medical advice" it'll be an ambulance job. I cant be arsed particularly with that unless absolutely needed.

5 Hours ago I was sitting in my chair and moved slightly. My back cracked and went into massive pain. About a minute later it subsided enough to continue typing or whatever, but was still painful.

I decided to go back to bed, because it was hurting. It didn't hurt at all when I lay flat on my back unless I moved a bit.

I just got up again now and its 'king painful to move about. What could this be, how long will it last, and what should I do?

Its excruciating to move even the smallest amount (eg. my arm back and forwards)

ps. I'm not anorexic/obese/depressed etc etc etc.

Could be you sliped a disk (ouch) or pulled something in your back.

Have a little trip down to your doctor  They don't bite (Says she who hates doctors and refuses to go for her back problems

Slipped a disk while sitting down? I hope not...

I can't actually move far enough to get to the doctors atm lol

I used to have this problem rather regularly and it was just something to do with the muscles in my back...try ibuprofen gel and some ibuprofen tablets. Obviously it'll hurt to move your limbs...everything is connected to ur spine after all...

samba i feel for you man BACK PAIN is the only like bad thing ive had for years and the trouble is the doctors cant do hardly anything for backs as well when my dad hurt his bad they just sent him off with some pills and a doctors note to get off work for a week. Though I do reccomend going to see the doctors now sooner than later cus if you had done yourself a bad injury it can get worse I think, and the only advice i can give is try not to bend forward too much like if your writing or reading the paper on the keyboard dont hunch over it that was what KILLED me when i had it bad.

Sounds like you could have trapped a nerve or something, that hurts like hell. I agree that Ibuprofen should help.

Could you get to the shower? Sometimes heat can be incredibly soothing.

I get sudden bouts of back pain often when I'm doing the most innocuous of tasks. Last year I was just packing a bag and my back suddenly started to kill. I could walk but only if I kept my back dead straight. It went after a few days though. Hot shower helped immensley as did a lot of rest.

If it hurts so much that it really hurts to walk at all then maybe try getting someone to take you to the hospital?

Cheers guys... A hot shower seems to have helped a little, as has ibroprofen.

Walking's still difficult, but I'll live.

I guess its no weights training or american football practice for me in the next few weeks eh :frown:
