I'm looking to purchase a new car stereo and I know I can simply look at the ratings on Amazon but I thought I'd ask on here to see if people can recommend any specific makes/models.

    Requirements:
    - DAB
    - AUX
    - Bluetooth
    - iPhone support
    - under £100

Has anyone tried Halfords fitting service? Any good?

    Thinking of this Kenwood KDC-BT33U.

You'll need a DAB aerial and wiring harness

This one comes with the aerial http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dab/...kdc-dab34u-dab (over budget though)

Thanks. What's the cheapest stereo I could get that would meet my requirements?

Probably the one you linked. DAB radios are expensive.

Just use idealo.co.uk and filter by all the features you want... then Google/Amazon for reviews.

Just looked at the one in the OP again.

    It isn't DAB btw.

    I know.

I'm contemplating whether to pay extra for DAB.

If you just listen to Radio 1 then FM is fine.

If like me you find the choice of 6-ish FM channels lacking (no rock or metal FM channel > ) then DAB is probably worth it.

But if you mainly just use your phone/ipod to listen to music then DAB probably isn't worth it.
I've got no idea what the signal is like in cars either.

What's the going rate for mechanics to install a new stereo?

What car is it? It's usually pretty easy.

Mostly consists of pulling out the stock stereo with two pins things (or knifes), plugging the wiring harness in, plugging that into the stereo and then pushing the new stereo back in.

Yeah with stereo controls on the steering wheel.
You'll lose the steering wheel controls usually with after market stereos. The steering wheel control adapter is usually expensive and works only with specific stereos.

You'd need a kit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK...-/260791488466 for a basic conversation.

This is how you remove the stereo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0ajPWmXj_k

Depending on the going rate, I'd rather just pay someone to install it as I won't use the kit again.

Plus the cost of the wiring harness adapter.
