I have nothing to do these holidays. My initial plans were to find work and make some money of my own but that failed. Anywho, I decided to renovate my parents old kitchen, putting my painting and decorating skills to use. The task is huge, therefore tiring & highly time consuming. I know my parents would have paid someone to do this and it would have costed a lot more. I've not mentioned money but would be cheeky to ask for money after I'm done?

Love your sig, inshaAllah I'll be studying Medicine soon

Maybe just ask them as if its a favour, it would be slightly cheeky if you say 'I've done XYZ amount of work and if it was someone else they would have charged PQR'.

It would be slightly cheeky yes and I'd advise you not to ask for money as you did it with the intention of doing it for free.

If they themselves offer to give you money for your work then that's great but if that's not the case and you end up asking for money, it would be "cheeky" yes lol.

If you don't ask you don't get. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
