I have a cousin who completed a degree in politics and is now the manager of an IT company - so the skills attained from studying politics are applicable in countless fields. It's not simply 'I study politics because I want to be a politician' as many assume.

But in today's economy if you graduate with a degree in politics from a russell-brick uni - then it's useful - but if you attend a mediocre/rubbish uni - it is probably a waste of time, unless your planning on doing a masters/phd.

I wouldn't say so. Skills learnt whilst doing a Politics degree, e.g people skills, PR and so on are appropriate for many jobs

End your snobbiness of Russell-brick universities. It's pathetic.

What's a russell-brick uni? The university that would be chosen by Russell Brand and Samantha Brick's lovechild?

All the original six redbrick universities are members of the Russell Group. There are no non-Russell Group redbricks from which to differentiate them!
