You need to work out a budget and stick to it Always budget in a little extra money just in case of an emergency.

If you cook everything from scratch you can get away with spending very little on food - lentil curries and veggie chilli are really filling and cheap to make in bulk (then store in the freezer).

Can you work during the summer when you're not at uni to top up your funds?

    Budget, budget, budget!

Firstly, make sure you always have money for bills and rent, each month or however it is weekly or whatever.
Secondly, have a strict shopping list of essential items, ie milk, bread, eggs, bulk pasta/rice - so at least you can eat something when times get tough.
Thirdly, see if you can get a student account with an overdraft - so you can fall into it for emergencies and stuff. Also uni might have a 1-2 day/night where you can work for extra funds to work around your timetable, everybody has free time.
Fourthly, don't over party, know your limits, pre-drinking is the best thing since toast.
Finally, enjoy yourself, dont be that person who cant do anything, if needed save some money each week so one night in the future you can have a YOLO night.

    p.s drink responsibly
