So, I didn't quite manage to get into my firm choice. But they are keeping my application until the main results day, so I can be considered fairly. I doubt i'll get through that, in fact, i'm hoping I don't - kind of. My insurance choice looks good. and unlike my firm choice (a BSc in computer science) my insurance choice (same, but with a foundation year) gives me that year extra to get up to speed - I was studying music technology at college, so the extra year might be good for me.

Now, the issue is actually a few issues - first, it's my foundation year, and it's my insurance choice. I'm not guaranteed housing at this university. so, I'm doing my best to try and find somewhere in the local city. That issue, I think is being dealt with as best as I can. The second issue, the issue I'm here to ask is - next year, when I move to year 1 - should I be able to be guaranteed housing with the year 1 firm choices?

Check the site for your insurance uni to see what they have in place for accommodation. Most will only sort out places to firm students, but sometimes insurance students can apply.

If not, which city will you be studying in?

I will be in brighton -uni of sussex.

The way they seem to do it is hand out housing according to preference to the firm choices, and then if there's anything left, the leftovers go to the insurance choices.

Nice, Uni of Brighton is my insurance (Comp Sci) but I'm doing Music at another Uni, did IT for the last few years at BTEC level.

Housing is a difficult situation if you wanna be near the university campus for Sussex, it's in Falmer, right? You might have to commute from Brighton (which is 10 minutes on a train), but the best thing to do is to take a look at as many search sites as you can - have you checked this one yet?

Very nice.. it almost sounds like you're the opposite of me! I was doing Music Technology at BTEC level, and now switching to CompSci. Yeah it's in falmer - and my plan is to cycle in most of the time. I am mostly looking in brighton for this year. and slightly hoping I might be able to get housing from sussex, both this year and next, but hope it's guaranteed next year. if it is... I know where i'd want to go, and it's off campus. And yeah, i'm aware of that one... I still haven't gotten the password for it. I'll ask again now. Thanks, man.
