Do what makes you happy and makes you feel comfortable.

Alcohol is perfectly safe and can be part of a healthy, well-balanced life style.

Obviously, there are limits - these are for you to set yourself. Not for anyone on some random internet forum to tell you about.

Peer pressure can be challenging, again, you need to decide what to do - it's your life and these are your decisions to make. But, on the other hand, don't be afraid to experiment and see what happens.

The only thing I will add is a bit of advice to pay attention to who you're with. I'll get nailed with people who will look after me, if i'm in a strange environment I'll be more careful.

Just go along and drink as little as you want.

I never used to drink when I went out, my friends used to tempt me and I was like "nah". Now I drink way too much but it's down to you, don't let your friends pressure you into something you don't wanna do

Do what makes you comfortable. If you can have a good time without getting plastered on shots then, do it.

Don't give in to 'beer' pressure from your friends.

I am so so so sorry about the beer pressure joke...I just had to say it.

Pld

Although not giving in to peer pressure is generally good advice, sometimes I don't think it's necessarilly bad to consider it.

Sambuca is nice, have a shot of that

I don't drink, but it doesn't mean you can't go out and have a good time with friends

I can get quite sick when drinking straight shots or certain combinations.

If you do decide to do shots, something I find that works for me is to have one and wait a bit before rushing into a line of them :P That way you can see what effect its had and notice if you are starting to feel ill. If you do a load in a row it could be a while before you are suddenly hit with the need to be sick.

I'm a complete light weight anyway and I always have to be dead careful. I can't count how many times I've been sick.

I have plans to go out with a few friends at the weekend but they are intending to go drinking/clubbing etc like they did last week, although i want to go to im worried about the drinking aspect, my friend wants to do shots and the idea of straight alcohol scares me as ive never really drunk that much and have a kind of fear of being sick! im 18 but basically just used to alcopops! what should i avoid?

Go for Real Ale mate.

shots affect u later on, so dont have 4 and think ur fine and so have a few more coz u will p*ssed later. wen u feel tipsy stop  best advice i can give or just avoid shots and have alcopops they sell alcopops in clubs
if you don't want to drink mate, dont. I have never had alchohol in my life nor do i intend to, its by no means compulsory
Drink Stella Artois, or if you are a girl, wine (I hate to sound sexist but I've only seen girls drink wine at clubs, and get the impression it's seen as a little out of place for guys).

Clearly they don't want to look like a wimp.

Order the shot, throw it over your should when you drink it and noone will notice. Just make sure you're in a circle. Even if they do notice, pretend you are totally drunk and it was an accident.

If medical school taught me one thing, it's that there's no shame in being sick (or getting naked, or wetting yourself, or doing cartwheels across the union but some shame in ****ting yourself).
