I've got what I think is another tooth growing out of the right side of my gum. At first, I thought it was a lump in my mouth but having felt it, it appears to be made out of the same 'material' as normal teeth, ie it feels hard and enamel-y. Is it normal/possible for one wisdom tooth, which i think this may be, to grow and not two? Should I go to the dentist to get it removed.
I have wisdom teeth on only one side of my mouth. The first one, on the lower jaw, was there six months before the other one appeared. If they have grown through ok, and aren't painful or messing up your other teeth, its probably ok. Just be aware of how its progressing, and mention it to your dentist at your next check up, or make an appointment if it begins to cause problems.
I have 4 wisdom teeth, 2 on top on eitehr side and 2 on the bottom either side but only one has broken through ever so slightly at the moment. Its possible that you have 1, 2, 3 or even 4 wisdom teeth liek me and not even know about it because mine didnt cause me any problems at first until i started getting a pain in all the rest of my teeth on the bottom left hand side.
Go to your dentist and ask for an x ray of both sides of your mouth, it takes 5 minutes tops. Not only will you be able to see if you do have more than one wisdom tooth, your dentist can make sure that they will grow in properly and not impacted which can cause a lot of problems in the future. One of mine is ever so slightly wonky and has been causing rediculous amounts of pain lately but it will straighten out eventually due to the angle its at.
Wisdom teeth don't tend to grow all at the same time. At the moment I have one coming through in the top right of my mouth - and even with that I only have one art of the tooth thats actually come out so far! I think its normal to have them growing at different times and speeds. Might me an idea to get it all checked by dentist though - for piece of mind and to ensure none of them are impacted (growing horizontally into your other teeth).
