Dodgy Foot

I don't know what else to say other than I seemed to have a slightly dodgy foot earlier. I was cleaning my apartment barefoot as per normal, and I trod on a thumb tack and it went in my heel. The thing is I didn't notice it at all until I went into the bathroom and I heard a clacking noise.

I pulled it out, and it didn't hurt, but it did go in quite a depth, and there was what I'd call a normal amount of blood on the pin and coming out my foot. I also found I was able to put a pin into the ball of my foot without feeling any pain either. But when I walk, I can feel my foot fine.

I know I have some nerve damage from a head injury years ago which did some damage (minor) to my brain stem. I also have a syrinx in my spine which will every once in a while cause temporary paralysis in either my right arm or right leg. It was the right foot in which there was a lack of pain reception.

Could it be linked in with the prior conditions, or is it something that is normal where there is tougher skin on the feet? I didn't try the left foot to see if it's the same.

Unless you have particularly hard skin, the foot is one of the most sensitive parts of your body, so I'd say it had something to do with your prior conditions.

I have VERY tough skin on my feet from years of hiking, snowboarding and running on concrete in barefoot, but I think you're probably right. Thanks

Oh, do you think I should take a shot at walking across hot coals?? LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your head injury and the associated problems :hugs:

It's probably a bit of both

Cheers for the hug :hugs: I've become used to all my problems over the years. Some are actually really useful though. But for your entertainment, here's a list of my problems!! LOL Pretty light reading eh?

- Brain stem damage
- Nerve damage in hands (herditory, possible Parker's syndrome)
- Scoliosis
- Left leg 2cm shorter than right
- Syrinx in spine
- Hyper tension of my leg muscles
- Hyper flexion of certain joints
- Weird nerves (I don't over heat or get cold between +25C and -15C and I can take a LOT of pain)
- Fast healing time (one that is actually useful!)
- Don't get hangovers (also useful, but no good at deterring me from drink)
- Mild hypoglycemia

And that's just the ones I can think of right now!!

I was going to say you must have very hard skin until you mentioned the nerve damage/head injury. I stood on a piece of wood once and a nail went right through my foot *ouch*. I had to go hospital and a tetanus jab and obviously get it covered with plasters and the like  I was quite young though. Anyway, if you bled quite a bit it might be worth going to the doctor ASAP, just in case.

Do you mean Parkinson's not Parker's?

Hell no!! I hate the damn doctors. They either laugh at what happened to me, poke me like crazy or think I'm lying.

Just cos I crashed into a helicopter once, half the doctors back where I used to live never believe me!

Nope, Parker's, it is thought there may be a link between the two, but Parker's is not nearly as bad.

The only Parker's I've heard of is where there's a tumour involved and it affects the liver lungs and bones...

Was snowboading down a mountain and I went through a cloud, and I was cocky back then, and I found the helipad, with a helicopter on it! Slowed down but not enough and I cracked a few ribs and broke a couple of fingers.

Tis funny though :p:

Maybe I've got it wrong, but I could have sworn it was Parker's. Read about it in a medical journal quite a while ago, and they were saying that it was believed that Ozzy Osbourne also had it which is why his hands shake, and not from drug abuse.

Ahh, it says about Parkin Syndrome there, inherited from relatives, which would explain why I have it, my mum and her brothers have it and my grandfather had it. I probably got a *bit* mixed up cos my grandfather always called it the Palmer shake cos of the family name.

Thanks for that :hugs:

 np. Sorry to hear about your extensive list of injuries anyway - you seem to deal with it well though

I like the throwing thing Fleece  Nice one!

And cheers Cool Cat. Ya gotta stay positive haven't you. Being down in the dumps about stuff you can't change isn't going to change anything.
