Romero Halls!

Hey!

Just got my offer of accommodation through the post and then went online and confirmed it and gave over my debit card details so it's finalised now- eeek! Anyway, i am going to be living in Romero Halls! I'm so excited! I have just looked at the factsheet for these halls and it is in a prime location and the two pictures looked cool! However, any extra information you could give me (especially if you have lived there yourself) would be so appreciated! How big are the rooms, what colours are the walls.... all that sort of stuff! Rep is available! Oh, and if you are staying at Romero too then do let me know!

Hello,

Romero halls are nice and near town which is great. They are all ensuite as well which is handy. However there isn't a bar on the accomodation site which sucks when you're too lazy and want cheap drinks. However Bedford Place isn't far and it has lots of bars. The worst thing is probably the fact that the rooms are very small. They are nice, but tiny in comparison to other ensuites at other sites. And if you are based at highfield its a bit of a trek or a wait for a bus but that is bearable.

Hope that helps

Oh dear- for a girl who has a colossal amount of books and photos to bring the size of the room doesn't sound good!

How small is small though Sarky? I mean, could i actually swing a cat in the room or will i be able to touch both sides of the walls when spreading my arms out hehe? How about the en- suite... is that tiny as well?

I oddly don't mind about the student bar or anything else, i just want to be able to live comfortably in this room really!

Hey sparkly tiara, I'm in romero halls next year too. What are you studying? I don't really mind its not near the student bars and scene, apparently bedford place is really good for going out, and you can really easily walk home from there to romero. Have you looked at it on google earth or windows live local (they do a birdseye view aswell)? Its really cool! The only thing that I won't like it getting up earlier to get a bus, but it won't kill me a i suppose!!

Why will we have to get up earlier for a bus? No one told me that... eek! And i'm right out in the sticks half the time (well the National Oceanography Centre!)

Wow, that is so cool that you are going to be in Romero! I'm doing geology at Soton... how about you? We will definately have to meet each other over our weekend moving in- you wont miss me trust me!? I will be the tallest female there with blonde hair and falling over her stuff! Any identifying features i should know about you? What course are you doing?

I went to see a Glen Eyre en suite today, how much smaller than that is it?

I have a q, I asked the accommodation office but they're out til Tues, are there aerial points in the room? Or do I need an indoor aerial?

Sparkly, my bf will be with you doing geology, he's also got a place at Romero!

I remember looking around Glen Eyre myself and i liked what i saw- i think it was my first choice! I know i didn't put romero down at all but i got stuck with it! Grrr! Nevermind, im looking forward to my halls too now!

I'd just like to say

YAY YAY and super YAY

Romero apparently has TV aerial sockets so I can bring my beloved PVR!
(That's a freeview box that can record programmes onto a harddrive)

I feel much better. Couldn't live without CSI.

bit of a tiny picture but that's a room in romero - doesn't look too small

I saw that pic too.. Bed looks bit low.. Oh well, I was kind of banking on under bed storage!

They better not rip me off by giving me a loft room! That's a good few cubic feet she's lost there! :p:

does anyone know if the electricity is included in the rent, or if its on a meter like in some of the other halls? And do we need to pay the £150 internet connection, or is this included too?

Hi there, im going to be in romero, ive heard mixed views of the place and it appears that most people have been popped there even though it wasnt their first choice... hmm.

I lived in halls before and small isnt so bad, its pretty cosy, once youve made it homely

My worry is that i will be placed with a really dreadful bunch of people, when i was at halls in wale i was really lucky to have a few really nice gals living with me but others werent so fortunate!

Im all very excited and also hugely nervous as i really dont know much of southampton... may have to take a trip down to have a snoop about
