Epilator problem

I bought a new epilator a few days ago, my old one (which I had for 8 months) broke and I couldnt use it, so I went to Boots and they exchanged it for a Braun Silk Epil 5180 (The one I had previously was a Braun Easystart, but they were out of stock).

Ive used it once and it seems a bit odd. When I was using it, it smelled like electrical burning, and it got really hot, it was so hot that I could feel the heat on my skin when I was using it. This model has a light on it though, so Im wondering if thats maybe why it felt so hot?

Does this sound about right, do they normally smell for the first few times when you use a new one, or should I take it back and change it? (I dont remember my previous one smelling like that when I used it).

I dont really want to go back if its unnecessary because my previous one was faulty too and I dont want them to think Im up to something!

My epilators definitely didn't smell the first time I used them. See what the others say but I think you should take it back. Or try calling a helpline or something.

Mine doesn't smell either tho it does feel a little warm if I've been using it for a while.

I have a Braun SilkEpil (although not the one with the light) and it doesn't get so hot or smell like burning. Take it back to Boots.

That's the one I have and it does seem to get warm if I use it for a while. Not hot just slightly warm.
