Nursing 2014 entry

Hi, starting university of birmingham in sept/oct and just wanted to ask whether its worth getting accommodation as studying and placement take alot of time! Also if anyone who currently does the nursing degree has time to go out and socialise, because I dont want to miss out on uni events such as freshers and making new friends if I stay at home.

It is possible to still be involved if you live at home but you've got to rely on people being organised enough to let you know what they're doing and arranging to meet up with you, which doesn't always happen. During freshers you're probably going to be having introductory lectures, I went to most of the freshers events and it wasn't a problem. I lived in a block with nursing students but the block joined to mine was other students. It was a bit noisy but you get used to it after a while.

I genuinely don't think I'd have stayed at uni if I didn't live in halls, you get so much support living with people who are going through exactly the same things as you and that's where I made all of my friends. It all depends on your personality, I think I'd feel out of the loop if I lived at home, and I'd definitely miss the independence I have.
