So confused

I am a young medical student but was explained how doctors get paid and how finance works for nhs. Can some one please explain what cqc is? I read about it online and am still confused. Is this run by GPs for hospital medicine? If this is the case surely hospital doctors should have more influence?

This may not be related to the topic of discussion, but doctors should get paid more. Especially emergency medicine doctors, surgeons and anaesthetists as they put in more hours than what is actually stated on their contracts.
The CQC is the Care Quality Commission. They are independent of hospitals and inspect each department to see if standards are good enough. If the standards aren't good enough, the CQC writes to the department(s) where standards are not good enough, and if action is not taken, the CQC has the power to shut down that department or the entire hospital.

The standards included are things like cleanliness, patient relations, bedside manner, whether staff are trained properly, if there are any drug errors, if all notes are written properly, etc.
