York

I really liked it when I visited it. I put it down as my insurance. I hated Bath when I went there. The Economics admissions tutor was horrible and cold because I said I hadn't done Economics A-Level. Although that doesnt say that much about the course. In my opinion, the Universities are very much on a level playing field in terms of Uni reputation and the course.

according to The Times, Bath is 7th and York is 9th - but personally i'd rather apply to york. They're practically on the same level to be honest.

Just out of curiousity, apart from Bath, are there any other unis that seem to have a bias for applicants with Economics A level?

Anyway I would say Bath. I haven't visited either university but the economics department at Bath seems to be quite good. If you're interested in a year in industry, Bath provides that with their Economics degree.

York without a doubt.

It is a better uni and has a better Economics department.

However you should visit both unis to see which one you would prefer.

Nottingham, Cambridge and thats it I think.

Bath - year in industry thing seems quite useful, and it'll probably have higher mathematical content because Bath as for A-level Maths, and although I might be wrong, I don't think York do.

As far as the year in industry goes, it's not as good as someone might think.

York IS a Bsc with high math content and I'd say 90% of applicants who get an offer will have A-level maths.
Why on earth would universities have a bias towards A-Level Economics? It's a crap course!

yes but wanting to lead onto an economics degree they might think it helps.

i'd say york personally but there's so little in it i'd recommend visiting both and going to the one you prefer.

hey i had the exact same choice to make last year as to which uni to put as my insurance... and i chose york (after going to both open days and asking on here lol)

i'd say just visit them and follow your instinct - they're both good unis anyway
