Dissertation

Hi,

I'm about to start my 3rd year in September. However, I've nearly finished my dissertation. The problem is I haven't got my supervisor to sign or agree my research question. Is that going to be a problem? am I jumping the gun a bit? What can I do if the supervisor doesn't agree with my research question? any comments gratefully received. cheers.

Hey, what subject are you studying?

You definitely need to talk to your supervisor about your question. I would say you have jumped the gun somewhat!

If your supervisor doesn't agree or offers suggestions for changes then don't sweat - you'll have a good base of research which should stand you in good stead for re-writing it. Treat this version like a first draft rather than the finished product.

Hi cheers for that. I'm studying a Joint Honours in Web Design & Business Entrepreneurship but majoring in Web Design and doing a Business Computing Dissertation, which brings me to another question. My supervisor specialises in Information Systems but I feel that I seriously don't know enough about the subject, so I've opted to do a cybercrime and its effects on UK business dissertation, ( which brings the other half of my dissertation in) does it matter that she may not know enough about the subject. I've often read when researching the diss that a person should do what they feel comfortable with? again advice appreciated.

If your supervisor says your question is okay then that's fine.

Hm. It shouldn't matter that your supervisor isn't an expert on the subject of your dissertation. Saying that, you should definitely make sure that you've got good contact with your supervisor to make sure you're on the right track with everything.
