I've just received my SQA Higher results...

4 A's and a B

The B was in Chemistry and I want to study Medicine. Is this me out of the picture now or is there a chance I can still get in?

I'm taking 3 Advanced Highers in S6 - Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Thanks

Which highers did you study? If you have studied the relevant highers then your marks shouldn't rule you out.If you have the relevant highers you meet the minimum higher grade requirements for Aberdeen,Dundee and Edinburgh.Due to the B in chemistry St Andrews may consider you since you are doing Advanced higher chemistry. The only Uni that you don't meet minimum higher grades is Glasgow! So 4 out of 5 is fine as as only can't apply to 4 uni's for medicine.Have a look at the individual university medicine admissions pages which give you an exact breakdown of what is required at both standard grade,Highers and advanced highers. Hope that helps.

Hey mate, you're not out of the running at all. Lots of applicants get into medicine with AAAAB every single year (there are lots in my year!). It's a big myth that you NEED 5 As. Right now, celebrate your fantastic results, then in 6th year, focus on rocking your subjects, getting a beastly UKCAT score, and doing well on the non-academic criteria of the application.

Best of luck!
