my first designer bag!

I have a budget of around £600 with which I can choose a handbag! I need something that I can use all the time, and can carry on my shoulder without it being toooo heavy. What colour do you think I should get? (am open to any suggestions except black) and more imnportantly which bag? I quite like the Dior Diorissmo Hobo but am very wary of logo prints.. I also like the Mulberry Emmy and Roxanne, and the Marc Jacobs Venetia and Blake. I don't want something too mature looking though! Suggestions??

Oh lucky you!!! I suggest just going to a shop and have fun trying them all out  (walking past mirrors etc!), even if you don't find a bag - it's still fun!! Saying that have a mooch on websites, even eBay, to find a style you do like, then it will be easier if you go into a shop as you can describe what it is your after!

£100 Bag... tops. Leaves you with £500 for clothes, yo.... think about it.

Have a look on this website if you want some ideas. x
Chloe Paddington for me, but they're £800. Have a look at other chloe styles as they're young but stylish. Also if you only want the look of a designer bag but not the price tag, try: http://www.voguebags.com/

Im sooo crazy about bags! But the thing is, there are so many nice bags on the high street that the ones that are cut well in nice leather can look very designer.
As to designer bags, ask yourself this, if it doesnt have a logo in an obvious place, and say none of your friends ever ask if its designer or realise, would you think you had wasted your money? Cos if so best not to bother as alot of the expensive designer bags are copied so much that hardly no one (unless you are surrnounded by high society mates!) would know the difference!

that said, if its an investment bag that you plan on keepin for a long time, gets something classic (say in tan leather) thats not too trendy. I think the mulberry emmy is good for your budget or the chloe gina bag.
Wow £600? That's like more than 70% of my student loan for the whole year! hee I'd be much too scared to spend that on a bag, I just know that I'd get mugged or lose it or somebody would spill their drink on it in a bar? I agree with Kate86 you can get nice good quality bags for waaay less, I mean you must've worked your ass of all summer to make that money-I don't think I could blow it all in one go. But you're not me and I guess you've already thought of these things, just hope you're luckier than me.

Have you ever bought off this site? They look so real, its very tempting!
I was alowed a designer bag for my birthday a few weeks ago I ended up going for a Brown Hugo Boss bag which was £500 which I would defaintly recommend. Also I'd recommend Miu Miu & Fendi bags as they are very stylish.

The Dior Gauchos and Saddles are gorgeous... You could also consider the Chanel 2.55 quilted bag, a classic, or the Balenciaga Le Dix Motorcycle bag, or maybe something from Bottega Veneta (their leather's amazingly supple...) but I don't know how much those are gonna cost you.

Do customs officers in Europe check the authenticity of the designer stuff you bring through?

I've heard of ppl in Asia being stopped and having their purses confiscated on the rationale that they were fakes.

girls are ****ing crazy!!!!

No, thats not true. You can bring it back fine, I have done! I mean, as long as you don't have 50 identical fake designer purses in your suitcase they won't say anything. Even if fake goods are in your suitcase then as long as you can say that they are presents for your family (provided there arn't alot of fake stuff) then they won't confiscate it.

i was going to suggest bottega veneta but someone else got there first. to be fair you can get nice bags from a lot of designers, mulberry, marc jacobs, chloe, gucci (i like the bamboo ones) and i also like louis vuitton monogram but you HAVE to dress right and have the right attitude to pull it off without looking tacky.

Louis Vuitton due to their good quality of leather, great maintenance, the right bag goes w/ nearly everything n never out of fashion. Also u can get a pretty good re-sale price when u dun want it.

Heh, me! I adore Bottega Veneta. Their nappa lambskin intrecciato leather is one of the most finely crafted leathers I think...

I'm too poor to understand any of this designer comparison stuff. I think the most I spent was $90 on a leather tote for my mum.

I blew my babysitting money on a purse once. I mentioned it to the salesperson, and they were convinced I had thrown a party or something whilst babysitting..

Why not spend it on a couple pairs of nice jeans or trousers and a decent bag? Or a laptop? (I'm a tech geek)
