galvanometer in null methods.

Could anyone explain me what do you need to know about galvanometers for AS and what is galvanometer in null methods experiment. Thanks.

Hi, the only time ive used one is during the measurement of a rod. Now its easy because all you have to do is put it to its off set. I will see if i have stil lgot a sheet about it from as but im not sure as ive dropped it now.

Null methods mean that the galvo doesnt have to be calibrated. It merely has to show zero accurately. Can be used in a slide wire potentiometer to measure emfs or a wheatstone bridge to measure resistance. Neither are on the OCr syllabus any more!

All you need to know about a galvo is it measure small currents.
