absolutely anything.. last year ppl were casual, formal or in fancy dress..

the summer ball is the main formal event (it'll probably be something like june 3rd)

Thank you, I was very very confused...and now am confused also. Maybe fancy dress would be the best idea! :-)

Am I right in remembering that the Fresher's "Ball" was just that party where they opened up the whole of the union last year?

If so, don't be confused by the name - casual is the way forward.
Reply 4
Thanks alot, i'd rather be casual anyway as I don't think I even own a dress! :-)

 no problem.

Just dont do what my flatmate did - was wasted before we went cos of drinking games, then sat on the floor in the entrance and threw up all over her legs
Reply 6
Haha that's just fit. Was it good last year (despite the throwing up incident)?
Reply 7
IMO no, it was quite *****e.

i was wondering the same as my friend (who is going to Bath) has to be all formal in a dress. but then i was thinking thats Bath and this will be Leeds! surely it will be just casual-which it is! WoooP!

tony christie singing beatles songs.. ermm it was interesting.

and yeah it was that party at the end of the freshers fortnight (oct1st im thinking?)
Reply 12
Ah i think it's the intro party i'm on about. I don't think I went to the fresher's ball...didn't really float my boat - tony christie and all that ****e. don't think i did anyway. Hmm..

It's quite formal.

Wasn't very good last year though. I would defo rather see Ryan Adams.

formal as in a dress, or just smart going out clothes?
Reply 15
Formal as in a dress. I wore my college leavers' ball dress and didn't look too out of place but a lot of the girls were in more clubby type dresses.

Hmm i have a pink cocktail dress that might do the job...!
Urgh, I hate wearing dresses ... is there any way I can get through the whole freshers week in jeans or skirts, or whatever id normally go clubbing in ....

I'm pretty sure you won't be denied access to any union events for not wearing a dress (Intro Party is pretty casual anyway) and I take it as a general rule that any bar/club with a dresscode isn't worth bothering with, so I think you'll be fine.
