Collapse In The Shower

I had quite a heavy night on Saturday, but got home alright and went to bed. Woke up before work on Sunday feeling fine (I don't get hangovers) and went to the shower. Just after I'd stepped in, I fainted and ended up on the floor. I tried to get up, but I couldn't. I needed to get ready for work, so I showered sitting on the floor (it was really difficult!). It took about twenty minutes for me to feel normal again, but then I was fine. Do you think this was a result of the night before or just one of those things?
Quite possibily as a result of the night before.

yes probably a result of the night before, but there is a chance that if the water was freakishly hot/cold you may have had a shock? my brilliant scientific knowledge at work again there!

Freshers week last year I fainted in the shower - sorta blacked out.
Reckon it was down to tiredness from too much partying and still getting up early (and I don't drink so not hangover) and similar thing happened a few months ago when my flatmate and his friends kept me up all night. Apparently temperature changing in the shower can do weird things to you
Try drinking something hot - tea, coffee, soup - after it if it happens again, and try and open a window in the bathroom at least slightly.

Lol, the water was fine

I was just wondering because it hasn't happened before and I've had far heavier nights!
What might have happened is that your blood sugar crashed overnight (after shooting up with all the sugar in alcohol) so when you woke up it was really really low, and then the combination of that, getting up (blood rush etc) and the heat of the shower could have caused you to faint?
If its never happened before then the chances are it was to do with your night out...if you're really worried see a doctor or nurse, they'll be able to put your mind at ease:smile:

Not so much worried as curious, thanks for the replies!

nobody can say definitely, but sounds like the night before. even if you don't get hangovers, your body is still having to work to recover, right..

i used to faint in the shower a lot due to low blood pressure i think....esp bad just after u have got up (cos like the blood all goes to ur feet) and if u were dehydrated from the nite b4 that could have contributed...????

I reckon it's from the night before. If it happens again get yourself down the doctors but sounds like you're fine now.

I sometimes have unexplainable near-blackouts in the shower, one of those things I guess.
When you go out drinking do you forget to eat? I do, which always leaves me shaky and faint feeling and horrible the next morning.

I collapsed in the shower at the start of this year but that was down to not eating enough over a prolongued period I think, i.e. I had just been eating fruit for 2-3 weeks. But if you had been eating etc then it was probably just due to being tired and having a big night before

I've slipped in the shower after a night out a couple of times when i've had a 9am lecture the next day, lol.

Never passed out though.
Low blood pressure mainly does it, for instance when you stand up too quickly. I often feel light-headed in the shower, but it's mainly cos the shower is quite powerful, and it's difficult to breathe with the volume of water gushing over my mouth and nose...
