The Student Room Group

more confident with people you dont know so well...

I started going out with this guy i'd liked for ages just before the summer holidays started, (known him about a year), and we've seen eachother a couple of times since then, in group situations mainly though (he lives pretty far away as met at uni)... I find it really hard to act confident with him and talk to him about things when it comes to umm.. sexual situations, whereas with people i don't know so well in the past I've found it easy- i guess because i put on a more confident front, and feel i probably won't see them again. Its annoying though because I really want to be able to get closer to this guy, but at the same time feel to shy/embarrased when it comes to talking about more personal stuff. Does anyone else find this? Hope it makes sense!

Lots of people find this. Remember that he isn't going to laugh at you. Just keep trying to talk to him.
Yeah, when you're with a group you don't know, you can sort of re-invent yourself. If you know you'll see the guy again, you're going to be more likely to be worried about making an idiot of yourself, but just relax and you'll be fine.

this happens to me, but i think i'm getting over it.

the key is being a confident person all the time. in the end, if you can do it with people you don't know so well, you can do it with everybody.

hmm.
i wouldn't say its happened to me, because i've not been in a relationship with anyone but yeah, i can see why it happens.
just don't be afraid, tell him how you feel.. theres no way if hes a decent as he seems that he'll hold it against you.
