It's the ultimate in well-balanced accommodation. Reasonable price, reasonable rooms, reasonable facilities.

Location is really good though, and it's quite nice to be in flats rather than corridoors. For 3-5 people the kitchen is pretty big too  Not much of a communal area other than the TV lounge though.

I'm going to be in Schafer... Hi.

It seems ok, though I did hear once that the kitchens are "a bit skanky". Ah well.
They can be skanky if your flatmates don't keep it clean... but that's just like any kitchen really.

I am in Schafer House. Is it really as close to UCL as it seems on the map (a fingernail's width)? Because Brisbane seems a fingernail's width from Sydney and its a reeeeeeeeally long way so I don't want to fall into that trap again.

Haha. I've walked the distance to the campus and the law faculty. Its about 5 minutes to the main site, and about 7 minutes to Bentham House (laws).

Onearmedbandit: what size are the rooms? I saw a pic the other day and they looked a bit like little corridors!
Literally it's across the road

Yeah the picture makes the rooms look smaller than they really are. They're not huge but i never heard anybody complaining about the size.

I'm stayin in Schafer, just had a look at it today! It's lovely and the little self contained flats are probably good for making friends. There isn't much of a communal area but there's a TV lounge which apparently is where everyone goes some years but not others. It's like 2 mins from Warren St and there's a sainsbury's and tescos just around the corner.

I reckon it'd be cool to maybe meet up with the other people in Schafer, before everyone moves in on the 23rd. Maybe dispell this "antisocial" myth! Anyone else keen?
