I am the Messenger - Markus Zusak
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series - J.R.R.Tolkien (they really don't take as long to read as everyone says!)
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern
The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster

(Just some of my favourite books!)

Well since you're asking... Wolf Born by N. Gosney is pretty darned spectacular

other than that, The Celestine Prophecy series by James Redfield, and the J.W. Wells & Co series by Tom Holt (beginning with The Portable Door which is fantastic).

Other notable faves are The Stone and the Flute by Hans Bemmann and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.
