    I’d greatly appreciate answers …
    let me test my revision.

    i) sulphur is burnt in air (oxygen) to form sulphur dioxide

    S + O2 ------> SO2

    suplhur dioxide is purified and reacted with more oxygen and passed over a catalyst of vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) at 450 degrees and pressure 1-2 atmospheres to form sulphur trioxide

    SO2 + O2 ----> 2SO3

    ii) sulphur trioxide is dissolved in concentrated sulphuric acid to produce oleum

    SO3 + H2SO4 ----> H2S2O7

    the oleum is then diluted with water to produce conc sulphuric acid.

    H2S2O7 + H2O -----> 2H2SO4

    thats the first two ill think of something for the third one hopefully. hope this helps.

    part iii)
    safely: use the oleum method rather than the adding water directly to sulphur trioxide which produces a fine mist of concentrated suplhuric acid
    cheaply: send in bulk?

    Most offenly sulfur is birned and the vapour is bubbeled through water. Also, if I am not mistaken there is some catalysts involved in the oxidation of SO2 into SO3. But I am not certain. Why not make a google search?
