Ranging from "marketing is evil, you scum! why do you poison the world?!" to "what is marketing research?" and "what is SEO?"

(and marketing isn't evil. If so, were the Shakira songs for the 2010/2014 World Cups evil? That is marketing)

Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions, I plan to go into marketing or/PR

Why did you into Marketing
I like people and how they tick. It helps me understand what people want to buy.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Strategising, making plans, observing trends and talking with a wide range of people.

What do you lest enjoy?
Sometimes long hours, but I don't mind really. Some projects take longer than others.
Is there a lot of paper work?
Not for me, based on my job/role. Depends on the area of marketing.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Moving up the ladder in my organisation, and perhaps going freelance.
If there was anything you would change about your job?
Nothing lol..no, I mean that seriously, I like it a lot.
What do your families think about you career?
They have no problem with it.
Did working in marketing meet your expectations?
yes, because I have some friends who are in it, and they tell me what to expect.
Do you sit around on social networks replying to tweets or FB comments?
Sometimes, but I also monitor marketing strategies, help make up marketing research, help in PR development, etc.

What do you specialise?
Digital marketing and marketing communications.
What has been your proudest moment in you job?
I worked as an intern for a charity, and helped them improve turnaround on their website/Twitter. Showed me how to tailor stuff to suit how customers want products/information.
How is working in a team like?
Just like any other human interaction, you treat people well, acknowledge and respect their talents and what they bring to the team, respect their time/space, help them when necessary, and share ideas.
Do you work with a lot of global and famous clients/companies?
Not yet lol....
Is marketing a typical 9-5 job? office based?
For me, both. I'm in an office and on the road.
Are you B2B or B2C?
B2C. I don't work with wholesalers or distributors, so largely with consumers.
Is there loads of maths involved?
For me, no. I have no problem in maths, but I hate it...too geeky and abstract. I prefer interaction with others, not using equations or statistics.
Hows the pay?
Any nob benefits? i.e. free merch from clients?
Pay is reasonable, even for lower level positions. Benefits, not yet lol...
Is it really competitive? within the industry and your work environment?
How can you professionally progress?
Depends on the organisation. And progress is based on experience and qualifications/certs. But a business/marketing degree is fine.
Are there ways that you can travel and do international marketing?
Is it a laid back work environment?
Do you host or/ attend 'glamorous' launching parties?
Where are you based? In the city?
Advice for someone going into marketing?
What jobs and work experience should I get whilst at uni?

Travel - Yes. You can join a multi-national firm, or get temp jobs in France, Germany or other EU countries.

Laid back - Depends on the corporate culture. This is subjective to any organisation, in all industries.

I'm based partly at the office, partly at home, sometimes in the shopping centre and I may get an e-mail asking for something. There are set hours, but then some issues crop up that need attention.

Advice - Well you have to have good interpersonal skills, have good analytical skills.

Jobs/experience - Run a blog, and find a friend or family member who has a business and offer to run their website or Twitter. It's how I got into it.
