How many calories to eat?do you eat?

well basicaly im male, 5'9, 8 and a half stone(seems light but im totaly not underweight) and i want to know how many calories i should eat to MAINTAIN my weight. i dont need or want to lose or put on weight. they say 2500 for men but thats an average male but im smaller and lighter than an average male and i know if i eat that much i will put on weight. so how much do you think? also how many calories do you all eat to stay the same weight? if you could state your height, weight and gender to give me a rough idea. thanks.

why do you need to know? Hasn't your weight been constant in the past? If it has, then just continue to eat in the same way. Unless you are currently losing or gaining weight, against your wishes, you dont need to change anything.

Trial and error is the only way to find how much to eat for a certain response, imo

well ive been dieting for some time now and have been eating 1200 calories a day. that was with 2 hours exercise a day, but for the last 10 days or so i havent lost any more wieght but have stayed the same. but im assuming that cannot be what i need to do in order to maintain my current weight(surely i should be able to eat more and exercise less). im happy with my weight now and just want to know how much i should eat to maintain my current weight. i should mention that i wont be doing any exercise. thanks for replying, i realy appreciate it, im just realy scared about puting on weihgt. im thinking of about 1500-1800 a day?

Why are you dieting. You need to bulk up. Not lose weight.

If you want to stay the same wieght it simple. Eat when your hungary and not just bored or to be socialble.

Yeah, if you're over 15/16 you won't look good. If you're younger than this, you will probably be able to get away with it as you (may) yet to develop muscles (which looks better than a visble ribcage).

I'm 5"9 and i weigh 9 stone and 3/4 and i'm thin you should eat at least 2000 calories a day, but you don't need to diet anyway more bulk up.

Seriously man, you're a runt, you need to hit the weights, I bet you look like an Ethiopian. If you've been dieting until recently you may well have self image problems.

The malnourished look isn't a good one.

Incidentally, I eat 3000-3500 calories per day, and I'm bulking.
Ok i am into 'indie' (i suppose) and get called skinny all the time (though i think i'm average)... i eat maybe around 2200-2600 a day depending how i am feeling and am 10.5 stone and 5'10.. you sound really underweight and in fact a bit anorexic .... only eating 1200 a day??!!?!?! i couldn't do that if i tried my hardest.. its hard enough to only eat 2500!
OMG im also 5ft9'', FEMALE and i weigh over 10st! I dont even look fat, im a size 10/12, i work out quite a bit and eat healthy. You must be seriously underweight - whats your bmi? Seriously dude get a few burgers down you and head to the gym. DONT DIET!

im not underweight, bmi is rubbish. if u saw me you wouldnt think im underweight at all, ive got a bit of a tum as well. i just want to know how many calories i can eat without puting on weight. how many do u eat?

im not trsut me. are you trying to put on weight/muscle with the 2200-2600 or is that how much u need to stay the same?

im 18. well ive lost weight and i dont want to put it back on, and if i put some more back on then i will have to diet more.

It depends on your activity level. How active are you?

well throughout the summer i was doing 3 hrs a day. but for the last 4 days i havent done any exercise at all becuase i feel pretty burnt out, drained so im not going to be doing anymore. so basicaly im not active at all currently and wont be for some time.

average for a man should be about 2500 apparently... to just stay the same.

Apparantly men should eat 4000 calories a day according to a friend of mine.
Bollox though. 2000 yes. Though I struggle to just make 2000.
