Dude
Wasn't there a room with a blinking light considered art a while back.
Probably  . That itself isnt art, it can only impress with some kind of explanation as to what it is intended to mean. So you don't need to bother putting a blinking light in a room because you have to explain it anyway - you may as well just start off with "Imagine a blinking light in a room....." and call it a thought for the day.

While we are on the subject of art, maybe we should consider the age old question.

How can you call one thing art and call another thing just like it, porn.

what do you all think about modern art?

is it really deserving of the title of art? compare this with something by constable or monet, they aren't in the same league!

lets face it, post modern art isn't worth the canvas it is dribbled on!

I think the point is something along the lines of:

"Sure, its crap, but it is still ART!"

Basicly what it boils down to is that the value of a painting is what someone is willing to pay or do in order to preserve its existance. No more, no less! Also, that a painting is ugly and worthless does not change tha fact that it is a painting.

The irony is that people assumes that when something is ART it automaticly has a great value. This is nonsense. My Girlfriends little sister has painted lot of drawings, which surely is art in the sense that it is an artistic atempt. That doesnt mean it is worth a penny on the market, however.

 Me and my friends used to create "modern art" in PSE

Art lasts longer than just saying something and also there are lot's of people who say their ideas so art might be noticed more

I didn't mean that people would be able to remember the meaning better but that they would be more likely to hear it because there are a lot less thoughts/opinions expressed through modern art than through words

We can get the same stuff through media, books, films etc.

That was my point if we're swamped by information then surely something thats a bit different stands more chance of being heard. Perhaps modern art isn't the best way of making something stand out but it seems to work. Or it used to anyway but theres a lot of modern art about now as well.
