Before me and my bf went out, I used to stalk his fb and always look at his pics. I didn't feel too stalker-ish since we were best friends and I had him as a friend on FB. It would have been worse if he were just a random stranger and if I didn't have him as a fb friend lol.

Yes only moderately to find out whether or not he's in a relationship, if he is he's out of the question. By moderately, that means no copying his photos as that's his for the purposes of public reasons not for someone to set as their background on their laptop.
