Hey I'm exactly the same....stopped periods straight away...fantastic! Best pill I've been on. The only thing I would say and I can't believe no one else moans is I can't get into the bloody sachets! I've tried tearing at each end and still end up getting the scissors. Least of my worries I know!

Hi there Airmed,
Hope you don't mind me asking... Your comment seemed most relevant to me as it didn't sound like you took the Cerelle for long. I started just less than a month ago (25 pills down, 3 to go on my very first pack) and I've had a few minor side effects in stages (nausea, lethargy, headaches, low mood etc) which may be partly to do with the pill but hard to say as I had some of these things previously. And one random day where I had some bleeding, more than spotting, several days earlier than my period would have been due.

But in the last few days I just started getting some red spots on and around my nose and one that looks kind of angrier(!) on my chin. I'm 31 so have been past the teenage spots phase for some years and my skin is generally fairly spot free tho get the occasional one. I've got 3 new spots in the past 2 days now tho so I think it's a Cerelle side effect.

I haven't used pills before except a short spell about 8-10yrs ago which was a different pill, I think the combined pill. I'm thinking of stopping Cerelle right now actually before even finishing the 1st pack because I am getting married in just over a month and I know it's silly to be so vain but I really don't want spots just want to feel confident and pretty on the wedding day. I don't generally, so having obvious spots that are unusual for me won't exactly help! The main reason I had asked for a pill was to avoid having my period on the day I get married as Sod's law/past experience would have meant it was v likely to happen on the day. So I was prescribed this one to stop periods altogether but a) it hasn't really worked for that even within month 1 (so surely the longer I take it the more chance of breakthrough there'd be...), but b) I need NO more reasons to feel less confident on the day I get married than usual!!

Sorry I've gone on for ages there!! Mainly just wondering how long your breakouts cleared away if you stopped Cerelle? I'm hoping in a month I will be fine if I stop now and start drinking more water/trying to be super healthy eating etc!

I've been on Cerelle about 8 weeks now and I decided to have a break from it and have a period, it's been nearly a week and I haven't bled yet. Is that normal? Thanks.

DO NOT have a break from it. A lot of women don't have periods on it, its perfectly normal. If you have a break you will not be protected from pregnancy and may mess up your hormone levels, you are meant to take the packets continuously. There is no harm in not having a period, you should count it as a blessing and if you're worried about pregnancy take a pregnancy test.

I started Cerelle a month and half ago and have AWFUL skin and a constant taste of acid/sick in my throat. I also haven't had a period. I really want to stop as my skin is really really getting me down but I hear symptoms settle after a while so I don't know whether to try for longer or just stop altogether

Did you stop after all? I'm having the same problem with my skin and I've been taking it for 5 weeks - I'm considering coming off too as I've had really bad skin in the past and can't handle it again!!

Hi Suzwalshldn,
Sorry it took me a week to reply - I got locked out of my account so it wouldn't let me post my reply! Hope you're doing ok.
I did stop it yes, I had only taken 25 pills in total so was still on the first pack. I probably should have gone to speak to the nurse first to see what she said but I had a bit of a panic and didn't want to wait to see if the spots got worse and not leave enough time for them to clear up, so I just stopped one day. I think if my situation had been different (ie no impending wedding) then I would have carried on a little bit longer to see if it all settled down and maybe also made an appointment to talk it through before deciding. But the lethargy, low mood, mood swings and difficulty remembering things was really getting to me and then the spots were kind of the final straw!
I was getting worried cos I didn't want to be exhausted and spotty on my wedding day and then *still* have the possibility of bleeding anyway (because despite having regular periods normally ie when not taking contraception, they had become quite random - even within those 25 days I had had odd days where I would get a light amount of blood, tho brown instead of red, so I kind of felt like overall that was worse than having one heavy period a month, as the unpredictability was stressing me out cos i felt like I always had to have pads available or was too paranoid to wear white trousers or something - so you can imagine what I was thinking about wearing a white dress haha!)

The good news is I do feel much better since stopping. I'm not as lethargic, not as quick to get angry, and most importantly re your question, the spots cleared up within a few days (and I'm not even the healthiest always in terms of getting my 5 a day, enough water, so I think the spots must have been just down to the pills) so overall stopping was a positive thing for me. I did worry tho for a while after stopping, because I didn't get a period for about a month so I was still thinking, will I or won't I get one when I tried to avoid to (wedding is in just over a week now!) but, luckily (I think) I got a period the other day which is quite heavy, possibly a little more so than usual even. So now I just need to hope it doesnt last longer than 10 days (having read some of the other posts on here, it sounds like a possibiltiy so I'm keeping my fingers crossed) so that I am clear of it by the big day.
So overall, I only took less than a month of pills which is a similar short time frame to you, so I guess even if it was messing us around, we haven't taken it long enough to have a really long lasting effect after stopping in terms of the side effects wearing off and periods returning. (Of course I am saying this all with absolutely no medical knowledge! Just my own one-time experience) I hope you're feeling ok and happy with whatever you decide to do whether you stop or continue, I wish you luck!

I was on Microgynon 30 for 3 months and it started to give me terrible migraines due to the oestrogen, so I changed onto Cerelle. I've been on Cerelle for only a month, and already i've had 3 heavy and painful periods. I mainly started taking the pill to help with my period pains, but they've actually been worse and i've had sleepless nights because of it!! I've also felt distant from my boyfriend and had a very low sex drive which is awful. I am usually an extremely happy, bubbly person but ever since I started Cerelle i've felt extremely low and unhappy, lazy, unwilling to socialise and unmotivated. I used to love school and now dread every single day!! I can't wait to see my GP to discuss different options, but until I get an appointment im quitting the pills completely!! Definitely didn't work out for me and I wouldn't recommend it whatsoever, however every woman reacts differently.

I'm half way through my second pack of cerelle and still had no bleeding. I'm 17 and have regular unprotected sex with my boyfriend, I'm now getting paranoid in case I end up pregnant as I never know because I have no period. Does anyone have advice? How effective is this pill for pregnancy?

most people go on the pill so that they can have sex without a condom! Ive been on this pill for over a year, i don't get periods at all, and never ever use condoms. Id advise using condoms to protect from STD's, no need to use them as a form of contraception if your on the pill. You're all good.

Also, periods on the pill aren't reassurance that you aren't pregnant. They are forced withdrawal bleeds, and you can still be pregnant. Count not having periods as a blessing

Thank god I found this. I just started this pill like a week ago? and it's not been nothing but a nightmare for me. Within 2 days of taking it I had extreme stomach ache with a bad back to go with it. Not to mention weight gain and horrific skin. The nurse refuses to let me back on the patch (had absolutely. no problems with the patch) because I had a few headaches. Completely at a loss with what to do

you started it a week ago.. The pill cannot affect your weight, especially this soon! The pill also doesn't have any links to back aches. I think you are being slightly paranoid - give it a few more weeks, even months before you make up your mind. Avoid going online and reading/writing scare mongering comments, it should settle down soon! have you had any bleeding?

I experienced bad anxiety the first few weeks (but i do suffer with it when not on the pill, it was just made a bit worse at the start of taking cerelle). Then it calmed down. My periods are much lighter and i dont get cramps! Also made my boobs a lot bigger lol. Everyone's body reacts different. The side effects should die down after a few weeks I think.

The nurse has given me this mini pill to start when I get my next period. I have read a lot of bad things about it online such as headaches, heavy bleeding, horrible mood swings etc. I am now really nervous to start it. What is your experience with it?
Absolutely fine. Been on it for 3 years and it's stopped my periods completely. Think I may have had some spotting to start with, but not for long.
Only issue i've ever had is that I start spotting when I take antibiotics (they interfeer with contraceptive pills so it's no supprise).

Don't worry about it. If you do have any problems with it you can just go back too see the doc/ nurse and they can help you sort it out. They might try you on a different pill. Don't worry though, most people will have no problems. The reason you see so much scary stuff is the people with no problems have nothing to say, but the people who have had problems want to share.

I am currently on my second packet with 10 days left, my first packet was fine the occasional acne and sore breasts however my period came at around 33 days and was really light, since my period it has been 10 days after I came off and I have been spotting on and off and has been progressively getting heavier I am now bleeding on a normal flow for two days now like a period and my period was 17 days ago, is this normal I'm considering waiting until I finish my 3rd packet to make a decision wether I want to carry on or not I just want the bleeding to stop! Has anyone else experienced this

Started Cerelle 6 days ago on the second day of my period and, so far so good! Didn't seem to affect my period and it ended after 4 days as it always does. Haven't experienced any mood changes, pains, or weight gain, though it is still early days. After reading these comments I'm a bit nervous about potential side effects like 2-week-long periods and breakouts!! Will update if there are any changes.
