Hey mate. It's sposed to be REALLLYYYY nice! big rooms (but i dont knw if thats relative to normal students rooms or what?!....)

My mum bought me this £10 really tall shelf unit (that takes up v little floor space) n i think im taking that (it flat packs in 2 mins, as well!). She got it from Argos....

If anyone has pics of it, that'd be good

Thanks 4u2nV, its good to know what people think of the place. I had a vision of some tiny room with just a bed and en suite lol! I can start buying things to store all my stuff lol!

Im deferring, so should get a little head start on my accomodation application. do you know if you can request the massive rooms? if i hopefully do get first choice, is the distance only a minor inconvinience, or are any other closer halls just as good?

 Hi Delboy06
Have you looked at the accomodation on the website etc? It depends on what you want really. For me, I really wanted my own toilet lol so there were only a few places for me to look at. However, if other stuff was more important and you didn't mind sharing a toilet, then some of the other halls would probably be better. Personally, the distance is a bit worrying but I suppose it will just save me a fortune on gym expensives! lol!

Hey, i lived there aswell! I was kinda here on tsr last year too lol. Here are some good points and bad points.

Probably the best rooms as they are clean, big and when they fixed the shadow gaps you could blast your music and invite ppl over without pi$$ing people off.
If you drive, you can park your car right outside!
You're kinda close to james lighthill house and their common room is really good and more sociable.
Everything is kinda new and the firealarms didn't go off as much as other halls.
You can just re-arrange stuff n it'll make u have welll loads more space.

First day pretty much sucked, no one was there!
For some reason, there were some strange characters that lived there.. lol probs just my year.
Mmmh there is no buses near by so getting to other halls is a mission.

That's all i can think of :s-smilie: oh yeah, don't worry about being the first 1 to get there because most people come on the day after move in day. Hope that helps, i never really stayed at Frances G much... i probs know about my ex's halls or astor college more lol

1) I got some pics but the warden came in my room 1 time and i swear he knicked my sharp gx30i data cable lol
2) Mmm it's difficult to say how big they are because i'm not good at imagining specific dimensions but they are probably one of the biggest rooms out of the halls when you moved the cupboard about. You don't have to worry about the size of the rooms though, you'll have enough space... i had enough space to put a heavy punch bag in n move about aswell.
3) En-suites are alright, only 3 other people inc yourself have used em over the years so they are really clean and new. The showers are kinda messed tho, like out of the blue hot water comes out and burns the **** out of ya lol but other than that, it's really good. Oh yeah, the shower space isn't that big comparing to places like james lighthill so take down the shower curtain and use it to cover the door so you can move about more.
4) About 5-8 to a flat.. i had 7 others with me and they were mixed and random.

Hope that helps & if you see that warden, see if he has a sharp phone  :p:

Oh yeah another thing, when you get to uni all these worries about room size and stuff go straight out the window... well it did for me, you'll be out and about and will probably hardly ever spend long in the room. I found the best parties outside of Frances G though, hopefully it's more lively when you lot move in.

THANX for all the help! (twas v useful)

I finalyl got my letter today and i've got a choice....

i can have a single en-suite room

OR

a double en-suite room! (obviously at a hefty price)

has everyone else been given the choice? what are double rooms like?

Are you sure you get a choice? That seems unlikely to me. My accommodation letter (not for Frances Gardner) had the price of the single and shared on the front and then on the back it told me what my offer was.
