Hi I am a Muslim and throughout the day I read my daily prayers. I wanted to know are the university lenient on allowing you to leave the class for 15 minutes if you need to read prayers in the afternoon during the winter/spring hours. What if you have a practical lesson? What has anyone's experience been like?

Hi there,

Usually in terms of lectures, attendance isn't mandatory and you can come and go when you please. However if this is a regular occurrence with a particular lecture it may be advised to see if you can swap to a different group if the same lecture takes multiple classes, or at least speak to the lecturer out of courteousy about your religious requirements. Additionally the Martin Luther King faith centre should be able to assist you with all your spiritual needs you can contact them at: [email protected]

Hi,

They should be listed in your modules, odds are though if you're unable to see the presentations, but can see the module your lecturer hasn't put them on yet.

I got my I.D card today and the picture is quite dark, it's hard to make out if it's me aha. I was wondering if it's possible to have a new picture taken and how much it would cost. Thank you.

Hi, I got an e-mail saying I have to pay accommodation fees by the 28th (which I knew) but when I try to have a look at paying them it tells me to login.
I haven't registered with the system so don't know what my username or password is. I can't find where to register and it doesn't come up automatically like the e-mail says. Where can I find how to register with to pay the accommodation fees?

Hi, I have enrolled today onto my 3 year degree course. On the my Aston map it says I will be finishing in 2019 and I will be having a sandwich placement year-but I'm not 100% sure whether I really want to take a placement year and feel like I'm more likely to complete the degree in 3 consecutive years, do I have to contact the Uni directly about this?

Also does the university offer any promotions to get discount for bus fares? Am I eligible for free bus pass or discounted bus travel?

Hi,

This can be done from the IT helpdesk on the ground floor, i believe the charge is around £10.

Hi,

The accommodation department themselves should be able to assist you with this, please contact: [email protected]

I'm in my 3rd year and I decided not to do a placement year a few months ago. You just have to send an email and they'll change your degree to a three year one. So you don't necessarily have to make a decision now

Hi,

If placement year is not a required mandatory part of your course, you will need to contact your personal tutor about opting out, from there they will put you in touch with the right people.

You're eligible for the student rates on travel West Midlands, that should get you a considerable discount.

Yes, they do it using a camera connected to their computer. I look like a hardened criminal on mine. Don't stress it, no one looks good in identification photos.

Hi,

A transfer is possible albeit, it may be a little more difficult in second year than first, you'll be given an individual offer. You should speak to your personal tutor and ask about switching and they should put you in touch with the admissions team.
