Hi,

A transfer is possible albeit, it may be a little more difficult in second year than first, you'll be given an individual offer. You should speak to your personal tutor and ask about switching and they should put you in touch with the admissions team.

Josh

Thanks Josh for getting back to me !
Excellent news can I contact admissions directly myself regarding my matter ?
And what would the deadline be for me to transfer this year ?

thanking you

You can, but the best route is to go through your tutor as there will be a release process involved. In terms of deadline, if a switch is possible and approved all parties will be interested in making it as soon as possible. Offers are made individually on a case by case basis so there is no rhyme or reason to them.

You can take either route to be honest, you'll most likely have to talk to both parties at the same time. I'm sure admissions won't mind if you only want to make a speculative inquiry.

Hi,

If you have specific questions about a particular course i would suggest contacting the admissions team associated with it. I may be able to clear up some common questions, but they will have access to the most detail.

Additionally i'm an Aston graduate who graduated in 2014, from my experience people hang out in different ways, either in the common areas of their flat or block, the kitchens make an excellent social space, on top of that the obvious pubs and clubs around campus and the city centre and if you join a club or society they will often run events as well. They cover anything from: Sports, religion, country / culture, music and other crafts and hobbies.

If you have any more questions i'm more than happy to help.

Hi.

I was wondering if you knew how flexible the university is on grade requirements. The requirements for Computing Science show ABB/BBB. However, would someone with AAC be accepted? A. A in Computing, IT and C in Literature.

Does the university accept students based on UMS points or are they adamant on students obtaining those exact grades or higher.

Hi,

You would most likely be given an offer with those grades. However everything has to be a game of hypotheticals when it comes to the actuality of entry requirements, they change flippantly every year depending on factors like: number of applicants, quality of applicants, course funding, staff availability etc.

Pretty much every university uses the entry requirements as a guideline rather than an absolute.

Good luck.

I think the nightlife is great, i visited a friend over in leicester a few times during our collective undergraduates and i would say there is far more choice in Birmingham. We have Broad Street which does house a large majority of nightlife. However there are clubs spotted all around the city, often offering alternative scenes - Horsefair houses The O2 Academy and Snobs which cater to a more Indie vibe. Hockley is the home of Uprawr and Eddies for lovers of heavier music and The Rainbow in Digbeth caters towards a lot of electronic and house music.

People tend to socialise anywhere and everywhere, the usual spots will be the common areas in flats, the on campus pubs: Sack Of Potatoes and Gosta Green and heading out into the city center to shop, see live music and go to the cinema.

Any more questions just give me a shout.

I have chosen International Business and Economics at Aston, I sent my application off on the 30th September, any chance you know how long Aston take to respond?
Thanks

Hi, loving the username.

If you have submitted your application via UCAS unfortunately you have a fairly long wait ahead of you, most offers are usually made around the time the deadline for medical schools close, around January.

However the upside is that the sooner you applied the sooner your application will be processed. Sorry to give you a non-answer, but sit tight and you'll hear from us soon.

Hi, I'm currently studying Sociology at Wolverhampton uni and was wondering is it possible to transfer to Aston during my second year providing I have the A levels for it. How would I go about it? would I have to apply through UCAS or directly arrange this with the uni come next summer?

Hi,

If you want to transfer you'll need to get in touch with the admissions team for our languages and social sciences department: [email protected]

From there they will open a dialogue and will talk about what they need from you to make a switch.

Good luck.

Hi!

A question regarding exams for the Business school - course: Business Computing & IT.
Does anyone know the exam dates for 2015?

Thanks.

Reply 576

I've sent my UCAS form off and applied for 2 courses at Aston (both business courses). Anyone know if they are already handing out offers or when I'd be likely to hear back?

Exam dates will take place between the 2nd of May and 11th of June. Unfortunately the pain of my undergraduate experience, you'll only know the date of your exams when the timetable is released in mid April.

Better cross your fingers they don't clash with that holiday or festival.

Hi,

Offers normally start going out around January time. I know the wait can be agonising, but best to just do other things and take your mind off it.

Hi my student finance (maintenance grant) says approved since the 15th and this means that SLC are waiting for the university to confirm my attendance. I'm just wondering why it's taking so long since it's been weeks since the enrolment. Thank you.
