ashburne

anyone else going to be in ashburne?

i ended up going through clearing for my place (even though im still on the same course) so i didnt get any of my choices for accommodation so ive been shoved in ashburne.
not too please after being in an all girls school for the past 7 years.. not a fan of just being in all girls accommodation for the next year.
but after spending a total of about 3 hours on hold to accommodation over the past few weeks, theyre being rubbish and wont let me change (even though i know people got offered my first and second choices after i was given mine. ******s.)

so yeah, im not best pleased about that but anyway, at least im in fallowfield.

so who else is going to be in ashburne this year?
the site says its full of a lot of international students.
i bloody hope theres some people who speak english.
and people who like to party.

ugggh i want woolton hall.

OMG you're the same as me! Got shoved in Ashburne after clearing *cries* AND I WANTED WOOLTON !!! THE BASTARDS!!

All girls.........this is not good..........I suspect you at least got one of the decent rooms. I'm in a box. I kid you not. It gives me claustrophobia. I'm getting OUT of it otherwise I'll bring it down about their heads in a nasty manner and accuse them of ruining my uni life.

I stayed here last year, there are some ok people around who just picked the wrong accommodation! Rooms are nice and food is ok at the beginning anyway. Stay away from the St Anslems guys (all male hall u have socials with) unless u can find the normal ones, most r bit strange and socially retarded or they were last year anyway..
If you don't wanna stay here then try and get moved if you really wanna get the full uni experience.
petrolxfumes think ur room is lees wing second floor room 13 most of those rooms r big.
Soo glad 2 get away from here and move into a flat for this year!!

Yeah petrolxfumes your room is quite big. And you might have a washbaisin as well.

My room was Mary Worthington 2 and it's a bloody box. I'm getting medical reference to get me out of that room. It makes me claustrophobic due to the fact that it is a hobbit sized room and I am NOT a hobbit.

Lol loulou101! about 3 years ago the Slems guys were all right and new how to have a laugh...then literally the year after that and onwards they are exactley as you described lol "Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhh Star Trek!!!" and constant xbox playstation contests....great I think not. I've got to be honest I found all the Ashburne and Gabs girls snobby brown nosers...sorry my opinion.

This is weird- I also wanted Woolton and got Ashburne!

Rogue- my room is in Mary Worthington... getting seriously worried that you're saying your room is so small. **** **** ****. Also... I am totaly up for parties, so please tell me you gals are the same.

Argh, so very worried now, especially since tigger has said about the brown nose thing.

First off, don't panic - it won't be half as bad as you're imagining. Remember that it's not completely girls only - plenty of the postgrads are boys, and we do mix with them (as Jo can confirm). You can always apply to move out in October, but give it your best shot first. There are certainly plenty worse places (*cough* OP Tower *cough*)

As for rooms - LB13 is on my floor, room size should be pretty good... (although you might wanna worry about putting up with me . MWC, I was on last year - sizes vary enormously. I was in MWC2, but had friends all along the corridor, have seen a lot of the rooms.

Oh, yeah - A = 0, and so on, they seem to've changed the numbering system this year

I dunno what you mean exactly by brown-nosers, doesn't sound like that phrase made it to West Cumbria. I dunno anyone who was particularly posh (although I went to a private school, so I suppose that'd make me posh in some peoples' eyes), my next door neighbours were from Preston and Sheffield.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Princess Ana, I actually feel better about it now.

Petrolxfumes- you sound like my kinda person, we shall definitely have to go out and P.A.R.T.Y!!! And yeah, you're right about the sleep, it'll be good being able to get away from the noise/drunkeness occasionally... and the OP bar is so close it doesn't matter we don't have one. We can all stumble home together!

it will be fine- its what you make of it really i made some really good friends who liked to party!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 went out clubbin dressed as batman on an ordinary nite- it was pretty funny until he got beat up and had to spend hours in A&E dressed as batman (not so funny) he survived........batman didn't!!! (were not all boring although some are :frown: )
I had another friend here who got drunk and started shouting and calling all the boring ppl geeks!!!!.......so plenty of ok ppl here!!!!.....and were postgrads.

i bet you will like it here, you tend to source out the ppl who are your type pretty quickly!

any probs and u wanna party cum and source me LB11.

Yup, you should do. You can work it out from the fee, anyways, rooms with washbasins cost more - check the amount on your contract against the amounts listed on the payment schedule.
