For me, my partner having a goal is really important. I dated someone for over 2 years who had no ambition in life as was basically going nowhere (and still is now). It really annoyed me, and made me feel like it wasn't worth being with him. I have always been really ambitious and have had goals to work towards, so why should he laze around doing nothing?
