Can you appeal a unis rejection, or ask them to reconsider your application?

Say if you just missed the entrance requirement and they rejected you, could you ring and ask them to reconsider?

Do people do this?

From what I've heard and read on this website, in most cases there is little point. It depends upon the university though. If its a Russel Group uni, then you should probably wish for a miracle when phoning them. Also depends on the extent to which you missed the offer, if you were only a few marks of from the required grade in the subject you failed to meet the offer on, they may consider, though its likely they would have strongly considered you in that circumstance.

If Track says you're rejected then the only reasons for ringing are:
- if you're a couple of ums from the next grade AND you're getting a priority remark
- if you'd like to be considered for a different course with lower entry grades which is in clearing.

If you have extenuating circumstances then they should already have been informed. If you didn't inform them then you need to get a TEACHER to ring and explain. Sob stories from you directly wont cut it.
Its pointless begging Unis at this stage.

They will have made up their mind about you/your place days ago and they won't be in a mood to change their mind for every 'But I'm so speshul' A level student who now realises they didn't do quite enough work. This is especially true for 'top' Unis and/or popular courses where they will have candidates in Clearing/Adjustment with the right grades and above queuing up for places.

If you had any real 'issues' you school should have raised them with your exam board months ago. Now is far too late to think up excuses for why you didn't do as well as you hoped and have missed the Offer.
