Bleeding Gums

I know no one here is a qualified dentist, but i'm asking for advice anayway.

For a few weeks now, every single time i brush my teeth, my gums bleed. They bleed where my tooth is, i wish i could show you to explain a bit better:confused:
At the top of the tooth, the gum part and the space in between the next tooth, blood just comes out.

Its top and bottom teeth/gums, i'm trying to find a new dentist because my last one said they couldn't see me again because i missed an appointment, its their new policy:mad:

They huer if i touch/push them, i don't know whats wrong :frown:

Do you use mouthwash??

How hard do you brush them?

The only explantion I can come up with is you don't brush your teeth regularly thus the bleeding or your not brushing them properly.

use listerine mouthwash to help protect your gums. maybe you haven't brushed them enough in the past so they bleed now you do. you can sort it out by using mouthwash though and maybe try using a different toothpaste?

You gums bleed because you have gum disease. As do I.

Just make sure you clean your teeth often.

Err so what now? Is that bad? I will brush my teeth often, i always have!

Just to clarify, i DO use mouthwash, brush my teeth, etc, etc. They bleed EVERY time, and it hurts now aswell. :frown:

If you brush your teeth twice daily, floss and use mouthwash then it shouldn't happen. I would pay real care to your oral hygiene for a week or two and if it doesn't stop then go see your dentist.

As far as I've been told - listerine is bad for your gums and can cause them to recede.

Yeah - anything ending in disease is usually not good.

Not too hard, just as hard as i have since, forever!

Try without mouthwash for a week? And try as best as possible not to touch the gums with the brush.

So, i have to see a dentist really. Stupid dentist that can't see me anymore.. Grrrr

My dentist has told me brushing isnt half as important as diet- if you snack constantly, your teeth and gums will be crap. Diet drinks are awful too cos even tho theres no sugar the fizz kills you

Might be sensitive gums, there's some sort of tooth paste you can get for that.

Reply 15

Use a soft brush. Maybe the last one you got was a hard brush which could be why it started. Hard brushes are never good.

For some reason this image popped into my head when I read the title..

 I like that episode. Hell I like most of the episodes! The Simpsons = love.

I used to have the same problem. I'm not sure whether something was wrong with my gums or not. In the end I switched my toothbrush & now I only used ultra soft ones for sensitive gums - and voila, problem has disappeared
