I was wondering, being on here really late, how many people on here skive? And, how often.
So I'm doing a little poll to see.

Be honest, your tutors and lecturers can't see it now!

i skived today because i had 3 assignments to hand in and it was more important to get them handed in to the assigments office, then going to the boring lecture...

I skive soooo much, I mean to the point where my attendance for an entire year has been 20%
I nearly got kicked out of college so many times for this and it has comprimised my grades too, my parents hate it as well as I'm hanging around the house a lot.

I still do it though. It's ok this year however, firstly I had glandular fever which got me some time off anyway, most of the people in my classes are 2 years younger than me and don't really have much to talk about to me (ie. Underage drinking), thirdly my teachers have already said that I'll get A's anyway and that me not being there doesn't worry them.

what are you doing at the moment? a levels?? if so then i dont reckon that skiving is that bad (espcially if you are gonna get A's anyway) . skiving on degree is different tho, because it is a specific subject whihc you have chosen to study and therefore should enjoy - there should be no need to skive.

That's what I think too!
Well basically I have my A-Levels and last year I wasn't sure what I was going to do so I skipped on the UCAS bit. So this year I'm at college taking AS French and Sociology (I was doing Spanish but I was so weak due to only doing short course GCSE two years before it, I dropped it).

I just got back from a college trip to France where I was the 2nd best at communicating in French and had to translate for all the A students who's french wasn't really that good!
Sociology is like Communication Studies, Psychology and Media Studies. All the essays and exam papers we had done I got 100% without even thinking about it. I have not been since January and my teacher hasn't complained.

So basically my week is made up of sleeping late, going into college Monday afternoon occasionally and Wednesday morning occasionally (usually wednesday because then I can go out for lunch with my friends)

So, all in all my life is very uncluttered. However due to this I get a lot of hours at work and have already made headway on saving for University.

Plus you are paying for it, not necessarily now but for many many many many years afterwards

yeh right, there is this guy on my uni course who failed last year (mainly because he didnt attend), so he decided to retake the first year again. He has attended about 20 lectures since sept this year, so he has as good as failed again. He has probly spent about 10 grand for the 2 years, Its such a waste of money and plus if he isnt attending, this cant be the right course for him. Fortunetly i know that this course is the one and only for me  i love it.

you sound amazingly intelligent, you peeps who dont do any work and still get A's are so annoying

Compared to the majority on here I'm pretty thick in terms of grades, all my A-Levels are C's (though most of the exams are 100% and close). I wasn't very good at coursework (Mainly due to the meanilness of it all and absences) and for that I got downgraded. I had two pieces of A worth coursework, one won a film prize and the other only got me half marks because the teacher lost the other part of my coursework.

The courses I am doing now have absolutley no coursework, thus why teachers aren't worried about me. I do well in exams

At the moment I earn £7 an hour, tax free....this is good for a student

Now that I can drive I always sleep way to late, miss assembly, registration, and am usually 5-10 minutes late for my lessons :frown:

won;t you get caught?

i skive all the time i prbably make it to a couple of classes a week!!
its really bad and its dragged me down so much.
i really regret it!!
if i get into a-level then i will be doing full attendance and will not make the same mistake!

I don't see the point in going to class. I never learn anything and I just get bored. I have to get up early, spend over an hour on the bus, worry about preparation etc. - it's just not worth it most of the time.

I hate d+d maths, so occasionally i skive

i only skive once every couple of months. usually its cos i wake up late. cos if i arrive late 3 times during a term i get a detention, so its just easier not to go and then hand in a sick note form my parents the next day. I skived today cos i had a driving lesson which couldn't be postponed cos i have a test tomorow.
