Get on it. Get on it. Get on it.

The pill is heaven-sent. I can't begin to tell you this enough.

It helps clear up any acne, makes your period lighter and shorter (and more regular), helps cramps... OH and I heard that it's pretty good at preventing pregnancy, too!

When I started the pill a looooooooong time ago, I was afraid about gaining weight myself. That's a total myth. People tend to think that the pill will make you gain weight because it has so many hormones and what not that women think that if they add MORE estrogen to their bodies that they will become fuller up-top, hippier, etc... weight gain in "womanly" places.

My friend who's father is a OB/GYN and is also in med school himself told me about how it's a total lie that the pill makes you gain weight, and there is NO truth to the pill making you gain weight at all.

Hope this helps... I love being on the pill, and if you're considering it, go ahead and do it!

Well that all depends on which pill you go on. Some can do the reverse (part from the pregnancy bit)

The weight thing ISN'T a myth. I've always been slim. I went on microgynon and my weight ballooned. I wasn't doing anything different - in fact I was exercising more, but still I got fat. As soon as I stopped taking it, I lost the weight.
I've recently gained quite a bit of weight and am having huge trouble shifting it. I started on the pill two years ago, what my doctor told me when i asked her about my weight problem, she said the pill doesn't actually make you gain weight thats completely my own fault but if you do it does make it more difficult to lose it. So as long as you keep a good balanced diet and exercise regularly it should keep the weight off.

I've been on a low hormone pill (Trivora) since I was 15 (I'm 21 now) and it's been great. My mother has breast cancer that was caused partly by taking estrogen pills during menopause, and to keep my risk of developing breast cancer down, my doctor has put me on that.

I think that every woman will react differently to each different brand and dosage of pill, as with most medicines.

I believe that the good points far outweigh the bad, but it's ultimately your choice!

im on cilest and i've not put on any weight, i've lost it if anything. but as with anything, it's different with anyone isnt it?? i think the pill's brilliant as long as you remember to take it and you're not sick.

I didn't put any weight on after taking the pill. Like Azzle said: If anything, I've lost a bit of weight (yet my chest has increased a tiny bit....)

Due to my weight loss, i've gone from a DD to a C :frown:
Since starting on Microgynon my weight has got up quite abit. I am on a diet and have been exercising yet I'm finding it really difficult to lose weight.

I know people will react differently to different pills but is there any other which someone could recommend?

I've been on Dianette for bout 5 months. My face is slowly clearing up - not greasy now. I haven't put on weight, though my boobs have "filled out" more. *No complaints* I had headaches on the first couple of days I took it, and was rather volatile round exam time, but that may be due to exam stress rather than the pill. But I don't get headaches now and haven't really noticed me getting more moody than usual. :p:

i was on dianette for a while, it proper didnt agree with me! was really ill and down. My dad read recently in the paper that it's linked with depression, a bit like roaccutane (but that's for acne)
