Hi Greg,

I'm supposed to be moving in to my room (D701) on the 13th.

I didn't get a chance to see Robbins on my visit either, so I don't really know what to expect, I've been looking on here - http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/pages/view.asp?page=7190 and from the look of it the rooms seem quite small

im moving into robbins on the 13th also. i didnt get a chance to look around them, but they seem pretty nice. The write ups appear to be mainly positive also.

Hey, im moving into room N706 i think in robbins hall on the 13th, looking forward to it, but im not expecting too much as i thinhk robbins are the cheapest of all of the accomodation.

I read that the rooms are 9 metres square and mine has a sloping ceiling.
It´s the people that make the place though:smile:

See most of you on the 13th!
The rooms aren't palatial, but they're not bad either. Slightly prison cell looking, with the breezeblock walls. Moving in to H401 tomorrow.

Okay, from what I remember:

A flat will consist of about eight rooms with the kitchen quite literally as its heart. The kitchen will be on the same level as four rooms and on the floor above/below, which is still part of the same flat you will have four more rooms with a toilet/shower and probably access to the balcony.

The rooms themselves are not that big, but pretty much your standard student 1st year accommodation style room. Imagine white-painted breezeblocks, a desk, a bed, shelving, a cupboard and a sink.

The kitchen itself is tiny, you've got a cupboard or so each and a couple of tiny fridges. This would probably be all at one side of the kitchen which faces the doorway coming into the flat (interior windows, etc) and at the other end of the kitchen, a small table and a window looking out onto the forecourt thingy.

Hope that helps, not long to go now anyway

Well, I'm here now and it's much better than I thought it'd be.
I wasn't expecting to get a common room AND a kitchen!

D7 in the South Building.
Despite all the the stairs we need to climb up to get here it's worth it

How's your flat?

Decent, over in H block, but I was here in my first year as well, so I pretty much knew what the room was going to be like. Biggest difference this year is not having to pay for the damn thing, makes it much nicer.

Does that mean that if you look through the fire escape in your flat you'll be able to look straight into my flat (D7)?!

Actually does that mean that I'm in the next flat along to you too?
If so, go to the window and I'll wave
I think I know someone from your flat, Fii, she's always lurking around here for some reason lol

haha She's always talking about moving in here :p:

BTW. I was at your flat last night, Fii decided to make us tea and I ended up washing up
We also spent an unhealthily long time playing with the magnets on your fridge

Overall it's a pretty cool flat, but the layout seemed a bit odd to me.
I like robbins I have to say, although I do prefer Pilgrim, I guess I just have a thing against breeze blocks lol, and also it bothered me that the beds are across the middle of the rooms :s-smilie: I dont know anyone who hasnt rearranged them! Pilgrim 6.4 is great, its the 'show' flat, so the kitchen is stupidly massive and its like all built for like 10 students even though theres only 5 rooms lol!
What are the pros and cons of living at Robbins?
Rose-moving to Plymouth this September for Uni
Im living in Robbins this year. Although the rooms in my block (block F) are a fair size, the kitchen is so small. In the most of the blocks, there is not a kitchen table, only a horrible breakfast bar and stools.
