She states:

"So I took it. After my final year at Cambridge, I was flown to New York for a two-month 'Boot Camp'. The starting salary was £37,500 a year plus a £7,500 golden hello bonus which hit our bank accounts as we arrived."

I would assume that an american IB (either GS, MS or ML).

I guess handshake bonus also depend on which department/office you are planning to work in?.

Entirely believable, good mate of mine's just been signed at Merrills... Sign-On is a fair bit more than the one listed there, I guess it's gone up

At Accenture I think they pay £6k of that in your first year and £4k at the end of your second, or something.

The above numbers look about right, they typically provide it in your first month's paycheque (the first month you begin work), though a friend at Greenhill got his £10k after signing the contract whilst at uni.

I heard and read that Accenture pay the 10K bonus over the period of your first 2 years

Reply 13

And if you leave within those 2 years, you have to give it back...

Just remember these lovely words,

No such thing as a free lunch in life

It's nice but you'll work for it. Nearly all places in various industries at least do a relocation fee

Citigroup reported to have dropped theirs in favour of a bumped up salary?

I only read parts of it but I have mates working with IB in the City and the hours are somewhat crazy. Some starts 8 in the morning, leave the office around 4 in the morning...

Personally i think our Cambridge Engineer "Polly" was somewhat Dyspraxic if she thought she'd be working the standard 9-5 job..its not like she was paid **** all for her troubles. I mean who gets into banking thinking that its going to be easy?
