The Student Room Group

24 hour study rooms

I realise you might think I'm crazy for asking if there's a room that at 0530, I can go and study, but I like to think I would be able to if I wanted to.

Is there anywhere at Manchester where students can go and study at anytime? To get away from noise in halls etc...

I realise there are computing facilities, but I'm slightly disappointed by the 1900 closing time of the library, my friend at Warwick has told me her library stays open until 2am and 4am at exam time.
Why not study in ur bedroom. there cant be that much noise at 05:30. if there is then wot about earplugs? apart fom that i have no idea, soz

Yeah stay in your room where it's warm and there are no muggers! Halls aren't noisey at half five anyway, 2-3 is peak noise time I would say.
The main uni library is open for longer than that. My department one is only until 5.30pm but as far as I can remember from last year, the main one is until 11pm. The times change and are extended over the exam period as well.
I think some halls have rooms that can be used like that to work whenever you want. My friend last year was able to use the chapel in her hall for violin practice at 2am!

Thank you, 11pm is a much better time, I wonder if I was looking at the summer opening times. I've never been very successful with studying in my bedroom you see.

Ditto the "stay in your room" comments. Unplug the internet and hide the cable, clear your desk, get a desk lamp, and pretend you're in the library. If your hall has a library or other quiet study area, that won't close, so you could go there. You might find you do better studying in your room at uni though, I find I do, simply because there are less distractions.

And yes, I think the opening hours listed at the moment are summer opening. Can't remember the normal ones though, because I never go there in the evening.

I seem to recollect being in John Rylands library at 11:30pm once, I think that was during the exam period.
