On the AQA website, it says that to achieve an A in unit 1 sociology, you need 42 marks. i got 56(B), and on unit 2 you need to achieve 64 marks to get an A, i got 77(C). Overall i got a C, i am kinda confused even though im happy with a C. why did i not get an A?

RAW marks are what you get on the paper, this is what is shown on the grade boundaries. UMS are the marks you get on your results, it's like a percentage that takes into account the rest of the country.

I think they are raw marks.

it says AQA GCE/B SCLY1 GCE Sociology unit 1 56 b

AQA GCE/B SCLY2 GCE Sociology unit 2 77 c

No it's definitely UMS, UMS on unit 1 is out of 80, on unit 2 it is out of 120.
56/80 = B
77/120 = C

Basically:
56UMS on SCLY1 is 38 raw marks which, according to the grade boundaries is a B
77UMS on SCLY2 is 55 raw marks which is a C
