No faith at all - we're breaking up. I can understand why people in serious relationships would want to keep it going, but I'm going to the other end of the country and would never be able to see him - plus, I can't help but think that it would hinder my socialising at uni if I had to keep checking up with someone at home.

that is very true. it isnt easy to say goodbye to old chapters - just focus on the new ones i suppose.
I hope I never have to be in this situation, I don't like the sound of it. I think Jelkin is doing the right thing, if you could never see your partner then there would be no point keeping the relationship going, you are young after all.
Slightly off topic but dont all relationships ultimately end in misery? Either you get your heart broken, grow apart, if you do marry then you either get divorced or your partner dies before you do, so dont bother to start with is a good way to go in my experience.

What, so you can be miserable all your life instead of deliriously happy and just miserable at select times? Good plan :yy:

Yeah, but if you -don't- have relationships, you end up sad, alone and bored! Even if you have a lot of friends, they will ultimately pair off with other people and, as Bridget tells us, you will be eaten by alsatians in the end.

The only problem with delerious happyness is that it (to my dissapointment) is usually followed by crushing sadness. Hence it is better to be in a constant state of moderate unhappyness than an up and down cycle of doom. Excuse my acidic nature Ive just been let down too many times. end rant.

That's complete balls. You'll never be happy if you don't put yourself in situations of risk.

Like I said, I've been let down a LOT, but I'm ever the optimist. Personally, I can think of nothing worse than just leading a life filled with moderate unhappyness, and never seeking anything more. It's self torture. Not cool.

Exactly! Now what was it that Chumbawumba sang...

I get knocked down, but I get up again
Youre never going to keep me down

Suppose you do have a good(ish) point. I envy your optimism. Anyway I know that it will happen again I just had my head up my arse feeling sorry for myself. Sure it will all work out one day. oooh was that optimism or sarcastic pesimism. appologies if I spelt that wrong.

I'm staying with my boyfriend. Theres no-way I'm finishing a relationship with someone that I really love just because of a 200mile distance. We both want to make the relationship work and so it will....
I think we are going to see how it goes, I've had some trouble as anyone who read my other post will realise, but I think that right now... at the moment there is still a huge ammount that is right with my relationship and we both travel alot anyway so here is to hoping....

...and if it all goes tits up? I will take his ass right down to Jeremy Kyle!
