Being into Emo is becoming as popular as Indie, or so I've been told, and apparently you can tell if someone is listens Emo from the way they dress.. but what exactly is Emo?

I am not sure what 'Emo' is, but if people stereotype you into a certain person straight away i cant see what the attraction is, maybe i can be proved wrong. I believe the way to be is being unique!

I completley agree.. I hate stereotypes and all these labels that are flying about nowadays. But it would be nice to know what they mean.. just incase I'm being insulted and I don't know it..

My advice to you is an insult is really an insult when you let it upset you, so who cares what anyone else says if you agree/like it its not their problem.

Emo - emotional. All the best music at the mo is emo. Emo people (if your going to stereoptype) tend to have floppy hair, usually dyed black. Wear dark t-shirts (once again, usually black) with their fave bands' names written across the front, randomly combined with checked shirts. They also tend to be suicidal and write poems and stuff.

Bands for you to run away and listen to - Glassjaw, Billy Talent, Brand New, Funeral for a Friend, Biffy Clyro. Finch are a good progression from the mainstream.

I wear random band shirts because a.) they're good mementos of good gigs. b.) they let eeeeeeeverybody know just what kind of music you like.

Why would you want to let everyone know what kind of music you like? Unless you think your taste in music is so fabulously cool that everyone should know about it
Well, yes, basically. I'm quite cocky in that respect.

and i do have a lot of band t-shirts but they are mainly for wearing at other concerts because i don't care if they get sweaty or ripped appart.

i have got a few t-shirts from bands i have seen such as:

    Sum 41
    Bowling for soup
    Blink 182
    The Offspring
    The Ataris
    Fletcher

The same reason people where football shirts - because they are proud of the team/band they support/like.

Emo is generally described as rock music driven by emotion.

its pretty funny how all these kids dress up in their nirvana hoodies etc. acting like they are alternative, when now its as commercialised as the stuff they supposedly hate.
